Hello !
I`m new on this forum and I have some questions for you about lasers.
So I want to buy 300mw green laser module with line lensand make line laser.
I want to use it outside, in industrial saw for wood. Line will be projected on wooden log - long abouth 8m and it should be easy visible for eye.

But I am worried about low temperatures at winter (-15 / -20°C)
Is anything wrong if the laser is outside at low temperature when it is not working. When it will work I will provide preheating for laser.

So my English is quite poor but I hope you understand me :yh:

Back in 1990 5mW Red (632.8nm) HeNe Lasers were used in
the Saw mills.

There is no reason that you need 300mW of 532nm Laser to
make a line..

There are cheaper and less dangerous powers of 532nm Lasers
that you could no doubt use... Something like this...

532nm 100mw green LINE Laser module green lasers diode | eBay

You can mount the Laser in a heated/cooled box..

Thanks for response!

I already have 100mw leser but the beam is not powerfull/visible enaugh for my situation. Maybe I`ll try with 200mw green.

But again... is anything wrong if the laser is stored outside at (-15 / -20°C) may low temperatue damage it when it is not powered. At night I can`t supplied it with a voltage, to heat it.

When the laser is supplied I ll ensure proper tempertature through temperature probe and heater.

Remember that a stated 100mW Laser does not necessarily
output 100mW... We have seen that the Chinese Lasers can
be VERY underspec.
Your 100mW Laser may only be putting out 30-50mW...

A 523nm (green) DPSS Laser is temperature depenent
because of its architecture and the mechanical aspects
of the Crystals required to produce the 532nm output.

You would need to test that in your environment..
The easiest way to know if temperature is acting on your
Laser's output is to test it using a Laser Power Meter.
