I've recently opened mine up, and i can see a pot sitting on the pcb. The laser module is different from the DX and similar types though, and seems to have a ring a round the diode that fits snugly to the casing. I couldnt remove the module easily, so i left it as it is for now... might be possible to ram in out with some force, but doesnt budge under gentle pressure.

I havent tried if the pot actually does anything, its mounted at an angle where it is impossible to adjust without removing the module.

The question remains what it will do - these things typically have pretty poor current regulation, so turning the pot up for good performace on nimh's may very well damage it when operating from fresh alkalines or lithiums.

Still, the actual laser units in there are pretty interesting considering the low price and good output power, perhaps even to mount them in a more beefy host to deal with thermal issues.

@ Momo, if you're worried that "pot-modding" will shorten the life of your diode, I can tell you how to get the same life span from your diode as it came from the factory. Just PM me, I'd be happy to help.........rob
