Re: 48w + 445nm handheld laser module

You should really set up the equipment before shooting the video, trying to get the glasses to hang off the camera?

I sacrificed one lens of my goggles and used blu tack to stick it to the camera, works well.
thanks

Re: 48w + 445nm handheld laser module

Thanks to Cyparagon I tested the power out of the 2nd laser and cube and it was just 400 mw looked stronger like full power in my basement the modules the shop sent me to test would not line good for a power test . So it look like I was wrong . I will have to go back to the drawing board .Yes I was wrong your right some time you just hope it all works out, sorry if I wasted your time .the video of the 2 beam burning the box lead me to think I was getting full power out of both beam. And I got one beam to go through 6 cubs. I man enough to admit I was wrong

Dave/daguin hold me to get more done before I posed it he was right and I am big enough to so I was wrong .I will keep work on it but it look like I will have to use a wave plate.

God bless and happy Mothers day

Re: 48w + 445nm handheld laser module

You are still missing the point

Yes. As long as you have the cubes lined up so that the polarizations are the same. The beams will shine all the way through them
It will still have the loss and distortion per optic that is inherent in the optic, but you will get light out the other end

What you have show is almost the same as lining up a bunch of cubes with the polarity the same and shining a laser into the back of them
Instead of shining a single light in the rear, you are reflecting multiple lights along the path
You've only shown that as long as you do not change the polarity, the light will continue to be reflected into the beam

If I am right, and that is all that is being accomplished, you can do the same thing without "rotating" the cubes to match the "pattern" you have in your head
Just line up all of the lasers on one side and align all of the cubes the same way
That will make the assembly smaller and less costly

As long as the polarity is the same, the beam will shine through (with loss and distotion at each optic)

This is nothing new or groundbreaking
It is well understood

What I have been saying since, I figured out what you were actually doing, is simply that it can be done, more easily, more efficiently, and less expensively with mirrors

As you accrue more loss with more optics and have to dissipate more heat from the cubes in addition to the cost of multiple PBS cubes, I believe that you will find that the cost per mW will climb significantly

In addition, you may have to add "beam expander" optics at the end to re-tame your rapidly diverging beam

Peace,
dave

**EDIT** -- I got called away in the middle of writing this post.
Things changed between me starting to write it and me hitting "submit"
Some of the info in it is now moot.
However, if you wish to keep working on this idea, some of it will still help
Scientists (and humans) tend to devalue negative results.
However, it is just as important to understand why something doesn't work as it is to understand why something else does work

Thanks for that .
I will do as Dave told . It can be done, more easily, more efficiently, and less expensively with mirrors .
But the 2 module 5w to 6w will be nice to have at a cheap price . say around $300 and easy to set up.
I am all ways looking to do bigger and greater things my goal is to have a real laser gun be for the yr. is out!
Thanks guys for not ripping me in two.
I see there a lot of nice guys on here
