Thanks ! I plan on improving the optics in the near future to try to do that .However right now they are sort of crude and are just the basic AixiZ type optics which do not work well with the c-mount diode . So as of right now it is just a burner but a very good one. My phone case is “pleather” plastic leather and it will burn at better that 3feet. The focal point without correcting optics is a – “dash shaped” as opposed to the normal dot . Also and I do not make a habit of it but the beam is faintly visible to eye . The focal point is very visible even in a well lit room .
I will try to get some better shots of it in action

Are you using an Aixiz glass lens ?

The shorter the focal length, the smaller your beam will be.

Thanks Yes it is a standard glass lens . Tonight I am going to try some different lenses to try and focus the beam better.

Sorry about the confusion of the avatar guys

I'm still working out the minor bugs but it should be ready hopefully within the next week or two. I'm also still shopping around for someone to produce a small run of these for a reasonable price...

Anyhoo, I had Jayrob machine me this 2 months back. Unfortunately, he doesn't/didn't have the right tools to "mass" produce these so it's been in limbo since.

Mark- Look forward to seeing these sometime. I have a few more bugs to work out before I send the design off to be fabricated.

Just to let you know that since I made that one for you, I have bought a proper boring bar with bits and holder. So I now have the proper tooling, and can make more of the special insert you may need! :) ...

But I figured you would want them for doing the custom diode mount and collmating lens...

sounds good to me, we'll make sure its done PERFECT. ecspecialy with guys like Jayrob, and heruursciences helpin out on this one. Kenom helped allot too. give them ALL rep dalorian, they deserve it. if they werent here... neither would your 3W IR burning laser.... well it might still have been here lol, but it would have taken ALLOT longer. ^_^
