Ingenious Non-Scanner Set 3D Printed Laser Projector

That's pretty cool, simple but fun. Wonder how it would work with a more powerful laser? Thanks for posting. :)

That is a interesting alternative to mirror galvos. Thanks for sharing Jerry.
And yes, 3D could print these for us. ;)

Diachi posted this a couple days ago. It is pretty cool. There are three sets of wheels. The one he doesn't show is a clubs logo from playing cards. They are stamped on the front surface of the wheels.

Edit: I see that this video does show the clubs version.

The basic idea is nice, and it works with small pointers like that.

But what would be way better is using 3d printed parts to move a mirror that creates the pattern, so the laser itself is not subject to vibrations and such. I guess it would be more complex since it would require two discs moving at a 90 degree angle, but that can be solved using wormwheel or angled gears and such (required parts for that probably come as technical lego pieces).

Obviously it's not very versatile in the sense that it can only project one image unless you swap out mechanical parts, but that could suffice you wanted to shine a logo onto something.

It could be safe as long as the beam cannot hit people regardless of how the mechanics fail - at least until the point where a steady beam sets things on fire, which is a realistic scenario with a couple of watts ;)
