So you are going to use a 7805 and regulate the voltage and run it with 4.5 volts? Please explain how that's going to work when the same holds true with the 7805, as with the 317 as far as running into problems with the regulator dropping out. You would need to use the same configuration as has been suggested to you. And using a voltage regulator you are asking for trouble. What happens is as the diode heats up it draws more current if using a voltage regulator. What do you think will happen? Is thermal runaway a possibility? I don't know and I am not about to find out. Irregardless, by using a current regulator the current going to the diode remains constant, no matter how cold or hot the diode is.

Holy crap DDL was wrong

Yes and I caught the rest of your post about the batteries...lol I would have to look it up, but the 350ma rating the manufacturer gives might be with a load of .1C for example...this would be 35ma's. If they were rated with a 1C load then they should run a 350ma load for 1 hour.

Back to the silicon diode...there is an easy way to prove this to yourself. Take a DMM and measure the voltage of a battery with and without the silicon diode in place. The voltage will be exactly the same. The band side of the diode goes to positive.

OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! you caught my post. :-[
And I'll do that with the diode as soon as I get a DMM, I found a good craftsman one at Sears for 20 bucks. ;D (adgmeijin, sorry for jacking the thread man)

hey guys, do i need a trimmer for this driver or is it already regulated?i will just add 33ohm 1/2 watt , 47uf 25v capacitor, 1n4001 diode. and all those additional parts must be connected parallel to LD, right?

The 7135 DX sells is already polarity protected. You so not need the silicon diode. You do not need the 33ohm resister...it is needed only if using SenKat's diodes.

You can run the open can straight off the regulator, all you need is the capacitor, and a 10uf 16 volt capacitor will be more than sufficient.

Can you post the link for that or the data sheet. According to AMC, it comes in a SOT-89 or a TO-252 case.

hey gazoo is there other option instead of using AMC7135? FYI idont have any credit card accounts here i only sending payment through WESTERN UNION, thats it but if you have other suggestion DVD LD driver i can be use rather than AMC7135, i cant continue this project because DDL LD driver was useless. If you read this Daedal, please prove your LD driver was not wrong..
