Here is the original circuit

led hoops circuit

to work with this laser

what I bought oneBay

Anyone here can help me while keeping it as simple as possible.

I have 1103CA's that I could use with the circuit, but I also have mpsa25's which are darlington's which could cut one transistor out of the circuit I think. also second thing I would like to add is a bypass switch to turn the laser just on solid. so I am thinking using maybe something like an lm317 to power the laser and the circuit from a 4xAA battery pack. what you folks think?

No not 4 AA, I am pretty sure those AixiZ modules have a built in driver and just need ~3.2v, you should be able to safely leave the original circuit as is and go ahead and add in the bypass switch and it should be fine. Just make sure the voltage to the module isn't to high, it's probably ok at 3v to 4v but I would keep it under 4v.

Yeah you can pretty much just plug in your laser module instead of the LED in that schematic. I think the laser might use up a bit more current than the LED but that should not be a problem.
