are there any simple delays that can be added to a switch of the laser and not the driver.
i searched for this topic and found nothing...

I was wondering the same thing. It would be kinda complicated, maybe some circuit with a 555 timer IC. :p

You could always take apart an Alpha and study the insides... I have no idea.

I wouldn't want to take one apart, they are too nice of a laser ;) I got a 105 doing over 130mW :D

You could use a driver that has a start up delay. It would probably make the diode last a bit longer too...

I can do it.
It would require a power mosfet as switch and a simple microcontroller with a program that tells him:

"Hey you! when you receive power wait for some time, flash X times a LED or do somthing to indicate turning on, and then give power to the gate of the power mosfet to power da laz0r!

Not hard to do, and for less than $2 or $3. Using a timer circuit will be useful, but would make the circuit bigger.

You gave me an idea...

Now going to ST.com for mosfet samples....
