Ok guys I know at least one of you has tried it, fess up. And remember this is an honest question so don’t laugh.

How many of you, who have a strong enough laser, have ever tried to cook food with it and what does it taste like. I have a bet that it tastes pretty bland, who can correct me if I am wrong?

Why would it taste bland? If you distribute power over the surface well, you are essentially grilling. I'm sure it would be possible to get a nice finish on a creme brulee using a laser instead of the usual gas fired mini torch... though it would take forever to do with a few 100 mW.

I figure it would taste bland because conventional grilling uses fire which has smoke which effects the taste of your meat. And I have already tasted a burned chocolate chip let me assure you that burned chocolate never tastes good.

Does everything that exits the microwave taste bland to you? radiative cooking is radiative cooking.

I haven't cooked (only burned) any food besides a marshmallow.

Well yeah... microwave cooking is terrible. I am from Texas most the food I eat is cooked with fire (you know wood, walnut shells, things that give flavor to my meat) I can’t stand food from the microwave I almost never use mine for food.

Well, I'm from texas too and I'd say that all the food that goes into me is total shit unless it came from the store :D Must be the lack of good techniques :p
