Okay I am a noob ,i am getting a 1.5-2w 445nm blu ray diode in aixiz module rated max 1.8a ,i want to drive it with a ghostdrive 2 set at792ma has voltage drop of 2.5 with 2 3.7lithium batts input at 8.4 the max driver input is 15 volts.

So my question is if I add another 3.7 the resistance stays the same but I am also increaseing output current due to higher voltage?

And is this safe for diode?

no the driver is constant current so you would have to change the resistor to get a higher output but I would recommend a bucking driver for this

Well that seems it gonna be way under driven ,should still put out 800-900mw? Longer diode life?

It was going to depened on if I could add more voltage but 2x18650should be ok

I have an old stinger flash light 18650 should have plenty of room and unlike a maglite the reflector is machined aluminum so I was going to bore it 15/32 andpress it

Yea a c6 and mohgasam heatsink

He already has a host body that runs off two 18650's that would probably fit a much larger heatsink. Instead of starting over with a new host that would require him to also drop down to two lower capacity 16340's which might mean not using 18650's that he has sitting there and buying new batteries and possibly a charger as well. He may want to just get a heatsink for the host he has. That may be the least expensive route and should give him better duty cycle and longer run times before recharging. Moh could probably make you a heatsink for it.

he could but the driver he has chosen is horrendous if you want 2 watts your gonna want a bucking driver for 1.8+ amps its gonna need to get to 2 watts and thats only if the diode can take it (some diodes can some cant)

The diode is rated for 1.5a so I am going to get a driver thats rated for about 1.2 and uses 1x18650 and have a bunch of scrap copper so I might just go with an all copper build and you are right have 4x18650 2x18350 and 8x14500 with charger hosts just laying around why would I want waste them

the driver he has chosen is horrendous

I don't think the word "horrendous" is the word you are looking for here  Maybe, "cannot put out 1.8A" would be more appropriate...

This hole thing has a snowball effect wrong driver for original diode, new diode for driver, so new driver and now someone suggests that I geta ho$$$t so now I am going to have enough parts to bu%ld three lasers which Is awesome but

I do appreciate u guys and youcritism and humor thanks

his driver cant even put out one amp so for 445 i call that horrendous. maby if you swapped out the resistors you could get some decent currents but the driver is gonna drop that excess voltage as heat regardless
the X-drive will give the 1.8 amps just be prepared for the 25-35 dollar price tag
