Heatsinks for Dorcy Red

Well i managed to complete my mini production run on a batch of Heatsink spacers to Kenom's specifications.

I bought myself a new 11.8mm HSS drill for the boring for much better accuracy. Measured on my vernier they are 11.81mm. That is exactly 0.06mm smaller than the Aixiz module, so will require a press fit for much improved Heatsinking. Alternatively they can be filed out slightly for a "tight fit".

I will be shipping this batch out to Kenom on Monday, a few are already promised out to people like AJ, and Ken will ship domestically to him (it makes more sense for ken to ship them in US mail than for me to send single spacers internationally).

I wont be making any more of these for a few weeks, so if you require one, then you will have to speak nicely to Ken, as I don't know how many he needs for himself. if however there is a big enough demand for them, i will consider doing another batch run in a couple of weeks.

Here is a pic of the spacers. The two big bad ones are for Daedal for his new project (whatever that is)

Top work mate looks very professional! have you tried one yet?
If so what type of difference in heat is it making?
And what type of duty cycle do you get at 250ma

Cheers,

Many thanks for the comment. :)
Kenom has one in his finished Dorcy, so he would be better qualified than me to give you an accurate answer. but I believe the heatsink gives him duty cycles in excess of 5 minutes, constant on.

hmm; i am interested in purchacing 2 of these heatsinks for my dorcy's.
the sizes i need are to be able to fit into dorcy mini, with the 12X30mm brass AixiZ case inside.
what is the current pricing on one of these babies?

also i assume you would suggest putting artic silver 5 inbetween the AixiZ and the heatsink for the best dispersion?

I've got a feeling I'll be waiting on the Axiz module the longest!

That's a killer price!

Lots of places will charge you up to $100 for a small run piece like that. (with setup, the machinists pay, and time away from other higher-volume paying customer's work, it's not completely unreasonable either...)

Did you know somebody at the machine shop?

no i dont; i guess your right about the price though. just seemed to me that $10 for a 20mm peice of ALUMINUM is crazy

i talked with the owner of the company about a larger run of these heatsinks; and he offered to go ahead with it.
how many people here would be interested in these?
