Re: A guide to mounting a diode into an aixiz hous
You're doing good work here. ;D
But as I said in case you missed it.
Take the "bottom" of the module. (AKA the part that comes off)
Turn it around.
Stick the diode between the module halves so the pins are though the bottom half.
Stick it in a table vice.
Tighten!

The method mentioned by Rhith is one of the early methods reported for LD insertion. Quick and easy, you have the tooling in hand !! It is still used by many DIYers. I do recommend the use of some wood blocks to protect the threads on the module.
If the LD refuses to go in all the way, other methods may be needed -- like a 3# hammer --- KABOOM
Re: A guide to mounting a diode into an aixiz hous
Andy,
The way you show in your pics shows the majority of hte diode still sticking out of the back end on the module I prefer to ensure that the diode is nice and tight, flushly inserted in place in the module. Have you had any issues with them popping out, or not heatsinking well due to the contact differences ?

I've used many Aixiz modules and still have a bag full !! They work for me very well and provide sufficient heatsinking for "average" duty cycles. If I'm pushing beyond, I machine the chrome off to get better contact to my TEC housing.
For pressing the LD into the module, I add a dab of arctic 5 grease.
