Freak diode?

From an NEC 8x dvd-rw:
Using Daedal's circuit, it's running with 6.2ohms of resistance across the 1.25v drop..
=201.6mA The beam is even visible with the lights on :-?
I wish I had a meter for this :|
Shall I turn it down? I'm scared it will blow as I read here that ~145mA was good, and 176mA blew someone's diode?

Chris. I am running a Sony diode in a Dorcy junior torch at 365ma - and it is defying the curve by putting out over 270mw !!! Freak diodes are almost commonplace anymore

SenKat, Is that the same diode as his? Or was your point that every diode if different? :-?

yea i agree i have a Senkat diode running at 350ma in a dorcy with only a capacitor no resistance at all
