I was wondering what external lenes are and what they really do? Where can you buy these or how can you make them?

Use any magnifying glass.....even the one used by folks to read the paper ! Or magnifying glasses from the drugstore - be careful of the reflection of the laserbeam though...

You could check out a home depot type of store - or any hardware, or maybe even a pet store, if they sell the clear tubing that would fit on the laser - then jam a lense in the top of the tube, and slide the other end on your laser - I haven't found a good lense yet to do the trick - the best thing I found was when I tore apart the DVD burner, I scavenged a pretty cool lense for it, and am currently using it instead of the stock colliminating lense in a greenie I own....makes it work pretty good, too ! But, I think this is something you are gonna have to mess with. I went to a Walgreens and the guy at the photo shop gave me like 15 of the disposable camers he had that customers had developed pictures out of....for FREE - and I looked through ALL of the cameras to grab all the lenses out - the best ones came from the "zoom" models - but your results may vary...

OK that sounds good. So do lens change a laser a lot? or just a little because if not then i dont what to waste to much time on it.

I really would not waste time on it, personally - the only reason I went through Hell trying to find a lense, is because I completely boogered up the original lense for that laser...so I REALLY needed a replacement ! (another DOH ! moment brought to you by SenKat !)

Lenses just focus the beam to a very small point thus increasing the potetial burning ability by concentrating the photons...

There are some lenses that expand the beam like the on from amazing1.com, but most of us just want to make wide beam lasers focus to a point for burning purposes...

Wouldn't it be great if someone invented an infinite diverger lense ? You could burn at any distance then.....Mmmmmmmmmmm Toasty !

I've tried with a telephoto lens but the beam seams to lose it's power along the way. The only way is to mod the pulsar like Tommygreen23 & Chargeman did...
