Can anyone whom has modded the Dorcy please let me know how much current the diode draws? I know the diode is connected directly to the driver board and there have been good results. It has been suggested to use a capacitor in addition to the driver board, however on some of the driver boards I have seen, there already is a capacitor hooked up at the output. Anyway, we have all the info we need to mod this flashlight, but I would like to know what we are looking at in terms of mw. output. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the "jr" but if it's a 1 watt, usually output current is limited to about 300 mA. That's ~3.3 volts at 300 mA --- 1 watt.
Use the Cree thing in the flashlight and measure V & I ... You will see if you're in the park.
That's what I do --- YMMV :)

I think a 1 watt Dorcy will give ~ 300 mA. Measure what's in there and report back. The 1 watt seems OK direct drive -- a 3 watt will probably need a resistor.
