DIY laser power meter

Can anyone show me how to make one? when I search on Google I get cheap ebay LPM's that a guy made. This would be nice, I found one on You tube, but that one only makes sound and lights, brighter and louder for stronger Lasers. I would like to make one that has a screen and everything.

I would think to build one would be hard. You probably have to set it just right for it to work.

so there is no way to get a power meter for under 100 bucks?

Probably not, and certainly not if you count your time as worth anything.
But I would LOVE to be shown wrong on this one.

i do too.

I contacted coherent, and asked for prices for lasercheck. they said 395 for one unit, and then theres quantity discounts. If I got 200 for cheap enough, would anyone be interested (I donno mabe 200-250 bucks ea?)
