[quote author=amkdeath link=1200112201/120#124 date=1202073200]or mabe someone can post a clear close up of the front and back of the finished and soldered GB board... im still confused how the coherent sensor attaches to the board

Maybe this picture will help. The connector in the upper left corner connects to the sensor head with the supplied cable.

Did you use the connector after seeing my post? ;D

Absolutely. It's a great idea. :D

I spent some time earlier looking over the Coherent PCB trying to figure if there was anything else really worth salvaging from it.. There are actually quite a few parts (diodes, resistors, LEDs) that could be re-used on the amp PCB if one was so inclined to identify and unsolder them. Your connector idea never dawned on me (duh).

I saw that on there and said to myself, I can get that off of there. ;D I used to do component level repair on advanced telephony boards years ago (including surface mount) so I knew it would come off.

I found all but the 4.7K and 47K resistors on it too! I did find some 5Ks and had them on there but replaced them with the correct values when I went to Radio Shack. ;)

Did you by chance measure the current consumed by the DPM from the battery?

I'll take the last one

Great! The second group buy is complete! PM's sent to everyone on the list. As soon as I collect all the money, I'll make the order.

The third group buy list is now in process... :)

knimrod,

Providing I can get 2 of these thermopile sensors, I'll jump in for 2 boards in the next group buy as well. This is an awesome project. ;D

Hey Knimrod,

I PM'd you..but after thinking about it ..I thought that the info would be helpful to others.

Can you answer a couple of questions for me?

1) Can that display be set to drop off the . (point)??

So that it reads 000 instead of .000 or 174 instead of .174???

2) The 5 dip switches, What switch settings did you use on this display??

3) It's easy to see where you tap for the output to the meter, but where do you tap into the circuit to get the power for the meter??

At the +9V side of the power input and the GND, where they connect to the board???

Thanks for the clarification.

Larry

Thanks....
