diodes

I have been really curious after my experiment, and I have 3 diodes sitting around-here are their status.

1-808nm 200 mw mint condition that I am selling

2-from one of my dvd drives and gives off the faintest red light and overheats (prolly dead)

3-Gives off a really faint red light but when I place something in front of it no reaction occurs

thoughts?

The number two and number three items are most likely worthless - the 808nm diode...have you applied power to it, or handed it in any way ?
