Well I cut out a nice piece of Extra Firm foam I have to fit my pelican case so I don't have spaces "ghetto rigged" to hold lasers and optics since the collection held in this case has changed drastically. I can get this foam real cheap (About $5 for a block that has more then enough for two cases) so I'm not too worried about having something I will need to change. Right now I have three Pen lasers and one DIY Red Mini Dorcy and I'm not sure how I should set up my case. Due to the density of the foam and how I can easily change it I was even thinking to set up two layers and have the lasers on top and optics, batteries, and other accessories on the bottom. You can see in the picture how my pluck foam was cut before and am open to any suggestions on how to set this up. ;)

Re: How should I set up my Pelican 1150 Case?

Okay, so I went for the two layers. ;D
Corners are cut so I can easily grab the top layer without fear of spilling anything.

Re: How should I set up my Pelican 1150 Case?

Well though I have no posts I thought I would still continue on and post my progress. I have the bottom layer done and it fits TONS. ;D
It fits: 12 AAA's, Match Box, Thick Convex Lens, WL Double Convex Lens, Small Meniscus, Large Meniscus, XY Matrix, Line Generator, WL Cap Set, 2 Right Angle Prisms, 90 Degree Small Lens, CR123 Battery, and Lens Pen! :D :D
Now onto the top half to fit my lasers! :D

Re: How should I set up my Pelican 1150 Case?

Nice case holds all things laser related lol, Its the "worlds most expensive case" with all those lasers in their, Id be worried about scratching all the optics with it because of the rigid foam or does it not scratch them?

...lazer... ;D ;D ;D

Re: How should I set up my Pelican 1150 Case?

It's a firm foam but it's not very ridged or rough. This is high quality stuff! ;) So it shouldn't be an issue, I'm also thinking about getting some more of it and I can cut it down to size and sell it to people if they are interested. Should only be $10-15 a piece shipped in the US. I can take the dimensions and just cut it a bit bigger and let you trim it down for a true fit. If anyone is possibly interested let me know and I'll see how much I need to order from the manufacturer.

Re: How should I set up my Pelican 1150 Case?

Well I can get my green laser to pop them no problem so I'm sure a DIY will have no issues to pop them at all!

Besides that I finished up the top rack so here are two more pictures!
On a side note, if anyone is interested in some of this foam for their own cases let me know and I'll check the price on it tomorrow and can get it out fairly fast if I see some interest. ;)

I'm liking it ! Now that Thanksgiving festivities, and visitors are over, and Black Friday Shopping and sleep deprivation is over with - I will be able to work on your BFG tomorrow. I hope you can figure out some room to add it to your foamy fun there, dood :)

I have plenty more of this foam and I still have the original insert to work with. I don't know if I will really be able to fit all five in there though, probably just widen one of those spots and leave one of the DX lasers out. But I hope everything goes well when you're working on it. :)

Nice work Rhith I've been looking into all sorts of camera boxes for my lasers ie for traveling purposes on group laser meets ;) The pelican case looks very good for just that job ;)

Well if you get one don't forget I can get this foam for everyone! ;D Better then buying an insert from them. Still not sure of the price but I can get just about any size to fit any case or box, just let me know.
