Here is the Idea... Every one says the Wicked Lasers are the new lightsaber... One problem I see with that is that its a laser not a light saber. Here is the idea.... Most commercial Light Sabers on the market are run off led and led drivers.. With the right lenses could you do the same thing with a laser with it not coming out the end of the Acrylic blade?? I would think that you would get a better color using a laser vs a led... I could be wrong.. I know what your all saying it would be a expensive build but I just wondering can it be done ????

Sorry to burst bubbles but even play fighting with a laser is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard of. Even if contained in an acrylic blade as you said, smack two together accidentally and boom goes your shield. I do enjoy burning my friends eyes out with lasers due toto reckless behavior

If the end result is diffuse light, why is there a need to have collimated light in the first place? They use LEDs because it's cheaper and safer.

this could make a very interesting display if the shield was made from strong glass tubing and you could switch out
different reflectors or diffuser at the the end or put in a beam stop there, you would have to test and see what was
acceptable, maybe have the tube filled with a liquid that has opalescent material flowing around in it.

Of course it would have to be purely for show as swinging around glass tubes could put an eye out :scowl:

And the tube could be frosted or not, this might just be very cool if the right person made it

Or you can search ebay for one of the WL laser sabers and be done with it. Someone has already mass produced them and they go for sale online pretty much once a month

You are aware that WL sells the light saber attachment as a seperate item right?

I have seen these online and on ebay they are not what I am trying to accomplish. they are just a fancy light saber and mass produced. FlaminPryo is on the right track with what I was thinking of. Laser light is just light that is a tight pattern led is better than white light but its still not as good as laser light. The color that you get from laser light is brighter and more visible. Thats why they use lasers for stage props and to tell stories like they do every summer on Grand Coulee Dam. I want a one of a kind Light saber that is done with lasers instead of led for just a conversation piece. Flamin your Idea with the frosted glass shield is brilliant. I am thinking I can get a a hundred to three hundred blue would look the best and not be obsene. I dont think I would need a 1 w or more to pull it off

How is it not exactly what you are talking about. You attach it to the end of a wicked LASER, not a wicked LED? Its a laser beam shining into the "saber" thus giving you a LASER saber.

It might not be your own design or what YOU are looking for but it is exactly what you are asking about.

If it's just going to be a display piece, why not just make it stationary and aim it at a well-disguised mirror on a stand?

Think saber hilt, pointed at a mirror, both items bolted to a stand to make them stationary relative to each other. Mirror would be mounted on, iono, clear plexiglass, or some other hard to see but still stable mount.

Take it a step further and incorporate a beam expander and/or combined beams for extra power and a thick "blade"

maybe have the tube filled with a liquid that has opalescent material flowing around in it
or a fluorescent liquid with a 405 laser... or just a straight up uranium glass tube

Exactly Livinloud.

Nothing led about the WL with light saber attachment---seems like vortish does not comprehend that it is just what he is asking about---a light saber simulation using laser light instead of an led.
