My special project...a lightsaber capable of cutting flesh...should be finished by tommorrow afternoon a 1W bluray laser it can cut tuna let's see if it can cut some skin if so my next build a (censored because it's just to awsome to hear) with a little something something to make it a little more awsome. Version 2.0 should be completed by January if you guys like this one.

The price of the 1W bluray lightsaber only $225...(woot)

I will post schematics and photos tommorrow if all goes well.

Because sometimes geeks just need to be more awsome than they already are.

.....

1 Watt of 405nm to cut Flesh....
and only $225.00...
So it looks like someone is buying 8X LDs for about $45.00 ea...:wtf:

This sounds like a Tyler sales pitch... but I'll wait before making an evaluation...

The Military may be interested in this....

If that is actually outputting 1 Watt of metered 405nm I'll buy it at that price...

4 SF AW210 diodes ($115)
4 aixiz modules ($13)
1 folding magniying lens (unfolded looks like "[" )
4 drivers from modwerx(don't know if that matters on the kind of driver.) ($40)
1 Toggle switch ($2)
1 405-G-1 lens. ($40)
Misc. Plumbing parts for lightsaber hilt (~$15)

115+15=130+40=170+40=210+15= $225(sales tax and shipping not included because they vary) for me the grand total with them was $250. Which is not bad considering a 1W 405nm would be about $1000 and isn't handheld so I say for 1/3-1/4 the price not a bad build and it looks cooler too.

Can't load photos from my computer right now our comcast router died on us so they are fixing it now give me a little time and they should be up shortly atleast the in the middle of build photos.
I use a magnifying glass to shine them on the 405-G-1 so that they hit in just the right spot (trial and error). May not be the correct way but it worked for me. =()>(|--- kind of the set up. Each one was equa distant from the center so it worked out okay as far as I can tell.

Since I took them on my iPhone and it has 3G so it is not affected by the comcast only by the forums not being able to upload it.

$@!&...one of the diodes I bought doesn't work so I have to wait until I have the money for another sf-aw210 diode with three though I was reading ~750mw so it works In the range it should. Man I have some back luck sometimes. Hopefully I can get some money soon from odd and in jobs to buy another one. That was all I has for spending money this year...&$"@...being in college and not acing a job over the summer.

Sorry guys I can't tell you guys if it cuts skin at 1W. I really wish I could...If anyone else is planning a build and has 4 sfaw210's I can show you my set up so you can show everyone and report if at 1W it cuts skin...just send me a pm.

The 6x diodes should only be run at 180mA for any kind of decent life. Also, at that current you will only get around 190-210mW. Four of these through optics will not get you 1W unless you are over-driving these to get 300mW or more.
Also, getting a decent beam from four combined diodes is difficult even with a real beam combining setup... so I'm curious to see how exactly you combined them. From what I understand from your description, there is no way it would work.

Also, 1W of well collimated or focused 405nm is enough to burn skin badly, but I would not recommend trying it out unless you want deep burns and lasting scars.
And wear goggles. UV is very dangerous.

No more involved the exact setup uses all the above the setup has a few tricks I used and by the way I'm powering them at ~200ma each it's just last night some lightning hit near my room so it could have shorted one of them out. The secret to combining them is what took me 3 weeks to perfect with some cheap laser pointers I've had. It is tricky but the power is at ~750mw right now at the final focal spot. I over-simplified the combining because of the complexity involved. But it's not to hard for someone to know what you need to do to combine them. Or atleast for me but then again again I have a 140 IQ so I'm not exactly most people so I really don't know how hard it is for most people.
So if you really want to know the setup you will just have to wait until I can afford another sf-aw210 diode in a module. Either that or I can show you the setup in a rifle I had it in originally from which you should be able to tell how ii did it. It's currently the one thing that gives me the edge...but if you can figure it out you will have earned it instead of me giving it away...Send me a PM if you think you can build it and I will tell you most of it but only 1 random person.

You say you're in college with an IQ of 140. That's good but I have trouble reading your above post. Is American English your first language?

No not quite more like 4 SF AW210s collminated through a 405-G-1 lens.

I can probably email them to someone else and they can post it.

Hey just out of curiosity, what website did you use to take your IQ test?
