Combining Green and Red laser beams for Yellow?

I was wondering if there is a way to combine a green laser with a red to make yellow? Just like an RGY scanner. I am wondering maybe using mirrors but you would have to be very precise. If anyone has done this, cheaply that is without expensive equipment, please share it.

as i said on the chat, you have to get hold of a thing called a dichro. then you have to get a red laser ATLEAST twice as powerful as the green, and align them all up so the beams are aligned. pretty simple, but it does require abit of effort and time to lign them up!

I have built 2 tricoluor devices using rangefinders from cameras.... do a search for rangefinder you should come across them.....as the green is the stronger of the 2 send it through the long route as it will have more losses, it is fiddly to set up correctly but it works :)

Hard work it is... It really gets down to a millimeter or less when you're trying to line them up... :mad:

Best optic for this purpose is the 'Red' one found here:

Reflecting the red laser from the front of the dichro is the best option as well because red is the hardest to get in high power and it's the one you need the most of...

Well no such luck on finding a dichro. I searches ebay and the results returned a bunch of weird glass things. I am getting a green laser pointer soon(Thanks Senkat!!)and really want to make a yellow beam. If someone knows where to get this or how to make one that would be cool to let me know. Thanks.

...Is that a 1/2 mirror??? that's a cheep trick! though awesome if that IS all it takes! lol.

Now all you need is a blue on the other side and a pot on each laser and you can make any color of the rainbow!

Watch this space ;)

The right hand block is two 90deg prisms, back to back, where the greenie is pointing is a front surface mirror.

Though still a work in progress this is the other one....this is one of the rangefinders that fit on the hot shoe of a camera...this one wastes quite a bit of light but was very cheap.
