Hey guys my project of the day was turning my normal guidesman into something special, something unique... Something Chrome!!!

I went out to home depot and osh, spent $15 and was on my way.

When I got home I poured my secret substance (PM me if you would like to know) into a small bucket and plopped my guidesman in. (without switch or heatsink or plastic pill)

After making sure all the anodizing was removed (About 30mins) it became dull aluminum.

Then for the hard part. 2+ hours of polishing using Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish I was finished... Well, with the host.

After that I just put it back together and I was ready to lase!

Sorry my phones camera is crap. Ill upload some better pics later!

If you would like me to do this to yours let me know. I'll probably charge about $10.

Lol, you're going to hate me... but I have a secret source of non-anodized Guidesman ;p

Actually, it's not a secret. The dollar store next door sells silver shiny guidesman that actually aren't guidesman (and bonus - don't have the logo!)

I'm selling mine though:

And it's probably not quite as "polished" as yours :) So your gem was still well worth the 2 hours of effort I'm sure!

No no no - they're not a dollar, don't worry.

And hey, I still had to toss aside a full priced guidesman kit for the heatsink - so don't worry, yours was still a cost savings. Though I don't envy you the 2 hours of buffing time you had to trade for that cost savings ;)

If you don't mind me asking. How much are the guidesmans?

They're either $10 or $5. Plus the $20 for the guidesman kit. So like $25 or $30 for the host in my build, all said and done. Still quite reasonable.

I might have you buy me a few and ship them to me if you ok with that. I'll pay of course.

Lol, I'd be happy to. You'll have to wait until after finals though. I'll have my hands full right now just trying to sell some of the laser stuff I need to pair down before a summer move clear from coast to coast, lol.
