Thats a nice little setup there.. If you have a set of lenses from the a140 projectors
you can use the set for the red LED to expand and one of the other thin PC lenses
to collimate.

That output looks nice already, just waiting for some direction :eg:

What are you powering it with?

Welp I tried a couple of the lens from the projector and it seemed to work pretty well!

My professional mounts would only take one lens that I wanted to use(the one with a flat edge on it), the other lens was too small so for now I mounted it in something I found and use pliers to get it close. I'll fix this as soon as I get some more optics mounts or something that will work.

The first optics seems to tame it a bit and with the second introduced it comes right to a point and does a little "pop" before catching the wood on fire!:eg:

Sorry the video is kind of sideways, it's hard to hold the camera straight and watch where i'm putting my hand.

EDIT: I flipped the second optic around in the mount so it would sit closer to the first. That hit's the sweet spot!

Holy fire :eg: Thats some scary IR you got there. Which lenses did you use?

Its hard to tell by the video... On the plus side, you dont have to worry about exploding lenses

Just keep an eye on the temp of the lenses after you run the laser. If the coating
is far off, and they absorb enough heat, they can pop..

Like the pics of the inside... The coherent bar I have is the liquid cooled head
but uses optics instead of the fiber lines..

I need to get to that laser and make something interesting.

I found some quick photo's of the optics assembly from the projector on hakzaw1's thread.

http://laserpointerforums.com/f49/14-projector-optics-place-63791.html

My first optic is the one in picture #5. It has the flattened top.
The second optic is a bit smaller in diameter. The one at the top of the photo in #2(pretty sure that's the one).

This was all just guess work, but it seemed to work out. The focal points ends up about 6" from the output.

Now get a huge crystal set and make a 20 watt green laser.

Oh god, that would be amazing to see.
