Hello,

I've just found a spare Surefire E2 Executive at my house and I'm thinking of modding it.
Any ideas of what I should do with it?
Does anyone know the parts inside a RPL laser and where I can get them?

I've taken the E2L (LED head) and in the process of using the driver for the factory 1 watt LED to power a 20X red diode. The Surefire LED head being used is the 1 watt older style from a few years ago. It drives the red 20X laser diode at about 350 mA. The diode gets pretty warm after 30 seconds, but it's just in an cheap AixiZ module. Thinking about modding the regulator circuit to lower the mA to around 300 for the 20x diode.

The Surefire LED heads have loctite (red strong stuff). To loosen the loctite, I just put the LED head in a coffee cup filled with water and put it in the microwave for about 5-6 minutes. Using pliers with rubber pads, I was able to break the loctite seal with a little effort. Flushed the electronics driver circuit with distilled water to rid it of any inpurities.

If you have the incandecent head for the E2E, there is not much space for a driver circuit.

I'm planning to buy a separate head for my E2e so there's more room.
So anyone got any ideas?
I saw some blueray mods and they look great!, where can I get a strong blueray diode?

My other option is to make a powerful green laser, as powerful as a RPL, but does anyone think it'll fit in my E2e? Where do you guys think I can get the parts for that?

If you're looking for a strong green laser you're in trouble without spending a whole ton on a separate module. I know DX has had some but nothing in the multi-100mW range. I believe they had a 70mW unit but it was in a large heat sink. Cheapest alternative would probably be to tear apart a pen laser from DX but then why tear apart the pointer if it already works? ::) Blu-ray would be a good option. http://www.psxboy.com/index.php?gOo=goods_search_list.dwt&gcat=67
They have the sleds there. I think those will only give you about 30mW though. I know we have had some group buys starting up though so take a look there and see what you can come up with.

I'm guessing this flashlight is made of aluminum... and you're sticking it in the microwave?
