Can someone give me good link about that knife edge ? What is it exactly ?

It is a way of lining up mirrors to get laser beams parallel and more or less overlapping.
The idea is that the beams are lined up in parallel pointing at each mirror, the mirrors at the same angle (90) to the lasers but shifted a beam width away from the lasers in relation to each other.

That will allow the first laser beam to pass just by the 2. mirror, the beams from 1. and 2. mirror will just avoid the 3. mirror...etc.

At the end you will have the beams almost overlapping, and with a lens you could likely make it look like one beam.

Tada!

Why settle for just knife edge combining or just PBS cube combining when you can do both!

this design is panted by arctos, phil has just copied it.

phils design isnt the best way to do it but it works.

what you have to do is set the beams up so they made a sqaure as best possible before going into the telescopics.

you change the polarisation of one set and then using a cube to combine both sets of beams

this design is panted by arctos .....

What is patented ? ..... the common optic principle of knife edge summing, or the common optic principle of polarized combining ?

You cannot patent common optic principles (or, at least, only an idiot can accept a similar patent as valid) ..... is the same to try to patent the wheel, or the lever principles .....

If they have patented that particular setup as is (and ONLY that one), maybe a court can accept it as valid, but if they have patented the optic principles, i really want to see where they can find a judge stupid (or corrupted) enough for give them reason, in a cause ..... :p :D

gee and again people claim the patent isnt real.

go to arctos web site and see for your self.

im merely pointing it out, it makes no odds to me its not my patent.

What if it's not real? What if Arctos wants people to think it's real? Only directly contacting the patent office in whatever country(ies) it is supposedly patented in will yield a conclusive answer, and I know of no one who has done that. :tinfoil::tinfoil::tinfoil:

Hey .. no need to go into such detail .. I think I understand what it is and how it works .. thanks ! :)

well you can take it from me then, its real!

Well to began due to life I have know formal education but just to throw somethin out the from what I read if you use a laser in a pulse setting vs just continous then you can schve more power for a shorter amount of time now someone put the idea out there think of doing this while combineing laser to achive more power I would think timeing would be the problem here unless the combine lasers ended in a pulse beam but fromwhat I have read about Bose–Einstein condensation therory of matter actually slows down light so if you were to pass the lasers threw the gas you could have the lasser fire on pulse at differnt times and they to combine to form one contious beam just a thought. or you could place the lasers really far a part if you really like to tavel.

heres a thought. a large convex lens cut into pie wedges bending the beam to the center of a single concave lens. the pointers mounted on a central axis like a gatling gun
much like the deathstar. each of the wedges have to be adjusted individulally or course

A combination of a wedge and a lens will leave a diverging beam, you need 2 wedges or 2 lenses. The trick is to place the beams close to eachother, knife edging does this quite well.

Could you explain knife edging. Does this mean cuttung the edges off and butting he diodes side by side
