Ok
Well, I want to know what the best flashlight is that can be used to house the smaller brass housing from Aixiz. I also want to see what flashlight has the best driver circuit for these diodes.
Can you all post which flashlight you used and what you had to add to it to make it work/ work better with these diodes.
I want to know which I should buy to house my DVD diode...
Also, which ones have you been able to make a focusable laser?

Thanks
Jonno

Yeah I saw, thanks ;)
I just want something that will run the diode (probably gonna get one from Senkat's groupbuy) safely at it's maximum power, without any damage and like a minute duty cycle or so. Any suggestions??
Thanks

Unless you have a HUGE heat sink, or a TEC, or you are under driving the diode... you can't have a long duty cycle on these diodes... FWIW, even the manufacturer set them for pulse operation... :p

Yeah, ok, so a minute is too long then??
What would be a good duty cycle for this?

I'd have to say that a minute is about the longest your gonna wanna keep this thing on. then leave it off for three minutes. It really isn't all that hard to make the extra cooling necessary for this to have a longer duty cycle. I had some plugs made that were 9mm long and 19 mm outer diameter and 12mm inner diameter. this allowed the heat to be transfered from the module to the body of the flashlight. It did increase the duty cycle. Now I havn't gotten my hands on these new diodes yet so donno if the plug is going to be sufficient or not. that I will have to wait to see.

Is there anyway to make 'This' focus the laser, or is it not a focusable light?

I really want it to be focusable by the outside of the light.
Is it easy to focus?

I am sure there is a way to do it, as the head screws onto the Dorcy quite far. You would most likely have to have a double ring of some sort - have the inside ring attached to the lense, and to the hood of hte dorcy, and the outer ring in place just to cover up the rest of the stuff :p

I am sure you could simply epoxy the inner ring to the TOP of the lens,(black plastic part) though you would need to be VERY careful, and it might limit your ability to focus at extremely close distances depending on the max twist of the Dorcy. Then epoxy that piece to the Dorcy head. Easy enough... But I wish there was a less permanent way, cause I am NOT epoxying my module! =p ;)

Unless, that is, there is a difference in the thread height (e.g., 6 rings per inch vs 9), then you are going to have problems, since the head of the dorcy may move more than the collimating lens per revolution.

Actually, the LD module gets epoxied into pace inside the hood - so there really is no way to turn hte hood without turning the whole assembly inside as well. Granted, Epoxy is a rather permanent solution - so it is a one shot deal !

I have made a focuser that sticks out the end a little bit so you can twist it and you can see a picture of it in the thread "baby" dorcy mod.

Yeah I saw that. That looks nice, I think I'm gonna do that too.
So do I need the 650nm 5mw 12mm X 30mm full brass case $4.50 USD from Aixiz for $4.50?
Thanks

What about using one of those 28 LED Flashlights that use 3 AAA :-?

Should be able to put a larger Heat Sink in one of Those.
