Just about any flashlight will work. But I do believe if one can mount the module in a way that the flashlight helps act as a heat sink, the diode will last longer. I have even seen modules mounted in those toy Star Trek phasers. Totally cool with sound effects.

Yeah - the key here is not only hte space for a heatsink, but also the boost circuit to provide enough juice to the diode ! :)

Yup....and if there is no boost circuit, then a three battery flashlight might be best, and use a resistor and capacitor. In my experience two AA batteries has never been enough for the output I am looking for.

OK, i think I'm gonna go with the Dorcy Mini.
Now, do I need the 12 x 30 module from Aixiz?
I bought the smaller one, but it's not gonna work, so is the bigger one right? $4.50??
Thanks

I would think the smaller one would work fine, the only problem I foresee is difficulty focusing. Remember Kenom had to actually cut the back off the original model!

I will be able to comment more when I receive the smaller modules, hopefully Monday. But I think there is an easy way to focus it, possibly by attaching a tube of some sort to the head of the module. Where there is a will there is a way ;D

OK
I have been looking around some more, knowing that I must find 3.6V batts.
So, i was gonna buy a Dorcy Mini, but for $30 shipped to me, I'm not sure if that's what I want to spend. :-/
So i found these on DealExtreme, could anyone please help me to tell me which one I should get or shouldn't get. :-?

My Options:
[*]7 Watts LED Flashlight -                                                                 http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.21
[*]MX Power 3W 2xAA 1xCR123A Flashlight  -                                      http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2111
[*]3W Ultrafire 601A 2AA Black -                                                        http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.889
[*]10W K2 Two Modes Flashlight Black -                                              http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.852 - I like this one...
[*]8W Mini 1-Cr123A Flashlight Black -                                                http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1112
[*]Ultrafire WF-602C Mini Flashlight Kit (10440 Battery and Charger) -   http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4573

Will the 10440 Battery Work well for powering the LD's from Senkat?
Thanks Alot
I hope you can help me.

all of them look good. I'd say the only issue is going to be the driver circuit. they may or may not be suitable but they should be.

I really like this one and it shows a lot of potential!!

Especially when it comes to how the LED is mounted in... It is exactly how you would want to set-up the LD's terminals. With a little circuit work and a grommet, I'm sure this one could be a very nice host for a red laser diode. You can always find the right size fender washer, then paint it black ;)

Yeha, that's the one I was thinking of getting. Will the rechargeable batt not be too high, like Senkat said about the rechargeable CR123a batts?

Well I am going to use the Dorcy because it has been proven. Unless that RiverRock Kenom has pans out, it Really looks nice and smooth.

I agree, stick with what has been proven to work at least to start with. There is another Dorcy Kenom was looking at. I think most Sears stores have it, and as soon as I can I will check at my Sears store.

Well, I ordered a package of lasers from DX for quite a bit of money and on Friday i got a package, containing 3 lights a kitchen scale and a really nice Ultrafire 3W flashlight :http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4314
It takes 2 x 18650 batts and was wondering if i could use this to power the LD from Senkat.
Any thoughts on this?
It is a really nice light, very well heatsinked with excellent machined aluminim parts that all screw together.
Will take pics and post them here later.
Please tell me what you think of this...
