Sorry if there is already a thread about this, i used the search and google but nothing came up.

I want to make an aqua laser by combining a 405nm and a 532nm beam. I have a ledshoppe 50mw greenie (I dont know the precise output, I guess somewhere 40-45ish but it's really just a thought.)

How much mw would I need to get an aqua laser? Something appearing like +/-500nm

And how can I best keep them together to hold a steady aqua beam?

Edit: Lol, from the banner below this topic - http://www.gadgettown.com/5mW-532nm-405nm-Green-and-Blue-Laser-Pointer-Pen-E02367.html . Looks like the thing I want to build

Yeah you could do it you would just need the correct optics. I am currently working on a yellow laser by combining a green laser and a red laser. There is a link in my signature if you want to check it out.

That looks amazing - I tried to do the same thing with my 200mw red and 50mw green, but it was too bright to see the color :shhh: I was just pointing them at the same spot, no modding on the laser itself.

But how many mw's of 405 do I need? I found magenta made with 405 - 650 is about 1:2,5, but what is the ratio for a 490-500 looking beam?

After that I'll try to build a laser like the links you gave above :D

Indicatively, you can try to use a 100mW BR (like a PHR diode) with your 45mW green, for get a blue/greenish color (anyway, you cannot get a single wavelenght beam, combining 2 of them, so the result is not a 500nm beam, is a non-monochromatic laser that looks like that color to the eyes)

And if yopu want it less green, you can try with 150mW, like a 6X diode (SF-AW210 ones are more than enough) ..... or, simply, use directly a 6X diode and build a variable current driver, so you can change the apparent color changing the power of the BR ;)

Ahh, I'll look for a 100-150mw then. sounds like something interesting to 'focus' on ;)

I know, that's why I said 'looking like 500nm'. It won't be 500nm, but XX mW 405nm + 45mW 532nm. If I'm not mistaking?
