I got some pricing on some 65mW 405nm diodes. He copied the details of the spec sheet here:
http://www.laser66.com/html/405-N.xls
He won't share the manufacture's spec sheet though. Something about 'their not officially released yet'. Here is his pricing:

"Jay:
sorry it took so long.
Here are some prices.
I'll offere you 2 pcs at the 100 pcs price to get you going.

N brand 65 mW (80 mW max) 405 nm
single item: $699
10's $ 650
100 pcs $499
need to get price at 1K.

I can sell 50 at $ 525"
Tempting to go for his offer to get 2 of these diodes at the 100 pcs. price of $499 ea. I asked if I could get only one at this price to test, because I just lost a lot of money on a mistake I made on a different diode. This guy lives local to me. About 30 minutes from my house.

Anybody interested? Maybe a group effort for some testing? I bet we could ask DDL, or drlava, or Hemlock Mike to test these...

Man....I have the money, and the Devil wants me to buy one, but the little financial advisor voice in my head tells me not to. I'll be up in Sacramento for a week mid februaury. Almost be worth the drive to check it out though...

Yeah, I don't like the price either. But we will never know if it truly is 65mW until somebody tries it! WL sells a 60mW blu-ray (supposedly) for like $2000 bucks! Optotronics has a 30mW for about $1000... I still want to try a harvest from a blu-ray writer though. The guy with the 65mW diodes tells me that the Sony drive (BWU-100A), won't have a high powered diode in it. But, I don't see why Sony would publish false information. More like, the guy with the diodes, doesn't want the laser forum finding out that they can get HOT blu-ray's for $300 bucks. By the way, I just bought a brand new drive on e-bay for $300. So, we shall soon see. I will be extra careful with this one...

YEah nobody can truly say what Sony uses except Sony, as they usually get stuff form multiple sources, sometimes to save money, sometimes to just palin get some when an item is hard to get. tehy probably have some minimum spec that tehy know will accomplish the job, and purchase what they need to fit that spec as they see fit. Anyways good luck. I only feel comfortable about the $100 range personally....
