Aixiz 10mw laser board

Hi everyone I am new to this forum . I've been reading around to get ideas to build my DVD-RW laser. So far i got my casing constructed (my laser will be in an altoids tin box for now..pictures will come soon). All i need is a diode from a DVD-RW 16x. Ok..so I got the the AixiZ 10mw laser and its diode extracted (sadly it didn't survive ). I was wondering... will anything happen if i attach the small board that came with the 10mw to my dvd-rw laser diode or Is it better to connect theDVD-RW diode directly?

The board that comes with those aixiz diodes is not designed for high power, and as such it most likely will not deliver enough juice to the diode to power it up, or if it does, then it will be really weak. I do not reccomend hooking the diode up direct to the batts - take a look at all the tutorials on here, and links out to felusmage's page where she goes into some great details about exactly how to hook them up, what circuitry to use, etc....
