I'm posting this for ask to the ones that make experiments and trials with electronics (who said "laser drivers" ? ..... LOL), if something similar happened also them with National Semiconductors (or with other companies).
I had asked 3 samples to NS more than a month (yes, month
) ago, for test new types of boost drivers, and apart the confirmation of the request, never got any reply, and, ofcourse, also no samples.
Today, i received 3 emails from NS about the 3 old components saying that, if i still want them, they ask "shipping fees" for each of them ..... precisely, 25, 26 and 29 $ for each of the component (cost of the components is approximatively 1 or 2 $ each, with a total weight of some grams) ..... this mean that, if i still want the "free samples" that they offered me to ask, i have to pay 80$ .....
Ofcourse i just ignore them, at this point, cause first, i no more need those samples (i already got them from another source for 9 Euro shipped weeks ago), and second, for me this is not for sure a good commercial conduct ..... other than this, i got samples from other companies, and the others, or sent them for free, or clearly stated that there was some small shipping fees at the moment of the request, and i accept this .....
I understand manufacturers that try to discourage free sample requests that have no reasons ..... but i just don't considerate a good and polite commercial conduct to offer, first, free samples not stating anything about shipping fees, left the requiring peoples without any new for more than 1 month, and after all this time ask for 10 times the value of the samples, if you still want them, claiming that the requested money is for "shipping fees", not previously stated.
By the way, incidentally, from now NS is the last manufacturer that i keep in consideration for all my next projects (i know that NS can't care a damn nothing about me, for this ..... just wondering if they're so rich to do the same with potentials millions-pieces buyers, LOL )
