I know that there have been many issues (Here) with finding a suitable replacement '510' threaded adapter for DTR's 22mm mech. mod units, since fasttech quit selling them.
It seems that most all the similar s.s. 510 adapters out there are a bit different than the originals.
Many are a little longer and larger in diameter which is not a big deal, but the biggest difference, and the most troublesome is that the threads are different.
Usually both the thread diameter and the thread pitch are different, making these alternative adapters incompatible.
I've bought a few of these to see if, and how they could be altered to fit DTR's 22mm units. The ones that I purchased are different in every way from the originals (length, diameter, and thread pitch).
My only real concern is making the threads compatible so that I can screw the darn things together!
Below are some photos of the way that I employed to make these alternate adapters work with DTR's existing units.
There are probably many other approaches to this, but this fix seems to work out rather well. :yh:

The before and after, following turning the diameter down to 16mm in preperation of fitting the new threaded sleeve.
I made the threaded bushing with a light press fit, but just for some extra insurance, I added a drop of this Loctite retaining compound; it will never come off!
Both units side by side, original and altered.
The finished product with a little extra polishing! BTW, this is a version 1 "le-adapter".
Note that the diameter of this new adapter is larger (23mm) than the original (22mm).
I was going to turn it down to match DTR's heatsink, but with a 21mm thread, and only 22mm in diameter, I'd only have approx. 0.5mm thickness.
That's cutting it too close for me, besides, I don't think it looks too bad the way it is!
