I'm sure this one is a no-brainer, and may have been discussed before. Just pop in the LD of choice and it's a multipurpose laser/light torch. Anyone tried one of these? If not, it'd be really interesting to see what can made out of this one.

I'll have one arriving in a few days - Hadn't even thought about swapping the LD... Now you've got the ol' wheels turning...

you will probably need to lose 5 leds in the middle so u can drill the hole out better for a proper housing. most low power reds like that don't have the diode in a can just on a circuit board

Aw yea.. post some pics if ya get'm. You modded the LD yet? Is it open can, er closed can?
