wlaser new 50mW torch

here is wlasers new torch its replacing other 50mw torch ...its 23.00 wlaser is u.s. based,2/3day shipping,warranty,great customer service... also i posted wlaer link for other wlaser products....NOTE; prices for individual units are the same as 10 unit price for l.p.f. members. im testing one of these soon owner is shipping me one to review..

these units have nice copper heatsink i tested one it averages 65mw ...its brighter than the led shoppe units for sure less ir ...the old 50mw torches had no heatsink which really didnt effect mine...they use cr123 batteries comes with nice case to put laser and batteries in...23.00 is a great buy ...owner is sending me like 20 to sell on l.p.f.....i will post in b,s,t, soon with better review.. also if anyone wants to build there own 150mw pen you can buy wlaser modules and pop in the standard 5mw pen with alittle tweaking..ive build like 10 highpowered pens so far....60.00 for a pen that peaks at 190mw averages 155 to 165 and you build it PRICELESS!!!!!

Looks just like this rayfoss, though a fair bit cheaper ($23 vs $35); rayfoss also has a 150mW version, I wonder if wlaser will be offering a good deal on that version as well (hope so).

these are new to his company i will check....yes they are a bit cheaper then when you add free priority shipping 2/3day with warranty its a great deal...he does sell highpowered torches but they are alittle different...i can tell you they are all overspec. tested before shipping..

I bought this laser from sandidgepatrick, then proceeded to tear it apart and get a few pictures for anybody interested.

Overall, this is a nice little laser for the money. It's right at 104mm long making it easy to carry and at only ~50mW it's a relatively safe laser. This would make a good gift / starter laser. It takes a couple minutes for it to hit full power (literally); for me it started around 30mW and climbed steadily up to 57mW where it stabilized. This laser is quite heat sensitive; I'm guessing the reason I'm seeing lower output than sandidgepatrick has to do with how cold my office is. Once it warms up, it goes to maximum power within just a few seconds.

The only real negative is that when the laser arrived the driver had bent somewhat down making it tricky to turn on. It would take four or five attempts to get the switch it just the right position. Thankfully it was an easy repair and once I bent the driver back up it fires every time.

Trivia: The aluminum heatsink mounted to the module happens to fit perfectly in the barrel of a Nintendo Zapper.
