Hi Laser Community,

It’s time for The YouTube Challenge! Pull that video recorder out of that closet and get those batteries charging. We’re looking for creative videos to place on the homepage of Laser Community. The videos could be funny, artistic, or could even be a Wicked Lasers commercial showcasing our lasers. Get this, the GRAND WINNER will receive the not yet released Spyder III laser unit with an average output of above 400mW!! For more information, please visit http://www.lasercommunity.com/the-youtube-challenge-win-a-spyder-iii-laser-t16970.html.

Good Luck,

Wicked Lasers

LOL?

This is good news, because it means the Spyder II will probably come down in price. I always wanted a waterproof laser...

Their contests are always great. This laser could be crazy, they just need to slim down the amount of defective lasers they send out.

I don't actually have anything against WL other than the fact that their lasers are all WAY overpriced and they need to actually test them like nova/laserglow/opto do. I can understand QC issues with dealextreme and kaidomain lasers because they can't afford to/don't have the proper test equipment to make sure their lasers are up to spec. Something is just wrong when wicked sells a fusion for much more than an x-125 and they don't test its actual output before sending it out.

Yea, I like my Wicked Lasers, they are great. But I have heard stories, even on LC, of their bad lasers. The good thing is you can return it until you get a good one. They usually upgrade you too.

The Spyder III will be really cool though. Such a compact, 400mW+, cooled 532. Now they need a higher powered 473nm blue.

The Spyder II is definitley not the most high power laser in the world, for example Optotronics send out units with almost 500mw:s of power. WL just tricks Guinness World Records. The only thing that WL is good at is advertising.

I think technically the RPL series etc. are portable lasers. But the DL Herc should be threre too.

Laserglow makes the Herc, not DL. And Laserglow did in fact get the world record for their Hercules.

The III is going to have a smexy case, that's for sure :D Not so much performance... eh...

Here's hoping they'll sell the case individually like they do with the Sonar.

Just some Facts:

It will have a minumum to average output of 400mWs.
It will be priced at under $2000
WL will continue to sell the Spyder II
There will be no blue spyder III

if that's the case, the spyder II price should go down significantly (but i doubt it)

Not necessarily. When the sonar II came out at 2000 bucks, the sonar one which was originally 2000 bucks as well went down only like 300 bucks. So I'm guessing the spyder II will go down between 0 and 300 bucks.
