i simply hate their under-spec products combined with WAY over the top prices. Their forum completely blows my mind; as last time a checked, a forum is a place where you can speak your mind.
The WL forum is more of a product support forum except if you actually mention any problems with their products or ask for help with a defective laser you get permabanned. The LC forum exists for praising WL and helping noobs pick a laser. It also has some decent discussion related to the problems in Australia.

I could put up with some of the other stuff (prices are high but it does pay to shop around - ironically WL has actually given me two of my lasers for free - when they were doing the Core giveaway and I also won the Signature Fusion. I only bought one thing from them - a 95mw Nexus - old CNI type - which I sold a while ago), but I swear the nuttiness of their forum really got my goat.

It's a wonder I didn't get banned - I have had a couple of my posts removed simply because I criticized their "other laser" crap, especially because you can't even mention laser manufacturers that don't (and probably never will) make pointers. I have a Spectra-Physics argon laser - gee - mentioning that got one of my posts canned. ::)

I like the sports goggles I got from them. Really very nice. Too bad they don't sell them anymore. I wish I could get one for my green laser.

As for the company, I think people pay them too much attention. If they want to charge people a lot for lasers, then they can go ahead and do that. Those who choose to not shop wisely should have their money taken from them, so I can't say I feel bad when WL makes a sale.

I dislike the company as a whole. They have great customer support, and their lasershades do their job properly, but that is pretty much the extent of the good things I can say about them.

I bought a Nexus 95mW as my first laser. They were out of stock at the time, so I was given a 125mW fusion instead. I was happy about it, it was and still is good quality and in good shape. Trouble is when i metered it, I was getting 75mW peak and 70mW average! The peak output of my fusion was almost half the amount of power advertised, and was only under two thirds of what I originally paid for. I didn't get to meter it until long after the warranty ran out, so I was out of luck for getting a replacement.

Just before I found LPF, I ordered 4 5mW evo lasers as a Christmas special group buy with my friends. All four of them inexplicably failed within two months. Every one of them was working, then placed in a drawer, then when they were taken out again, they just didn't work. WL happily exchanged them all for new ones, one of which failed about a month later, the others I don't know about.

The underpowered, failing products, coupled with excessive false advertising, high prices, manipulated product reviews, live chat employees knowing nothing about lasers, and the George Orwell nightmare they call their forums, WickedLasers has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I will never buy from them again, and I will also never let anyone I know buy from them either.

The company would need almost a complete overhaul to fix these problems. Far more strict quality control, power testing of products before shipping. Replace live chat staff with people who know a bit about lasers. Marketing needs to take a backseat to product quality. Allow negative product reviews. Completely replace existing forum rules with ones that allow at least some degree of free speech. And lower prices.

And what's up with all of those 'building' lasers in your signature? How do you plan on making a yellow? Or a 1200mW green?

Hmm.. took a few looks on their website and forum. Even discovered some other site praising their products and even the PRICES ..
Website is nice, so are the products but not their pricing. I wouldnt be paying such money even for high quality, like 2000$ for their 405nm Sonar II..

Then the Laser Community... blocking out everything that even remotely refers to other companies products or problems with their own products. The forum rules say it well: "[...]we do not subscribe to a policy of free speech[...]".

I found a topic "The YouTube Challenge!!", it was a video contest where you submit a video ([...]or could even be a Wicked Lasers commercial showcasing our lasers[...]) to youtube and after a time, their staff will select 10 videos and so on. (how come i feel videos with some non-wicked lasers wont pass this phase..). Additionally, you had to add “Visit <WL URL>” in the end of the video and video description had to have links to LC and WL. I must say this marketing that will bring loads of people into their closed-community is great for their business but for some reason I find it disgusting.

I dont own any product from them, but everything seems to be high quality. Customer service seems to be good too from what I've read. However, can't help disliking entire WL after comparing prices and reading their forums and other affiliate sites..

With the yellow. I'm looking for someone that can finish the 593.5nm KTP crystal I have. (It just needs YVO4)

The ~1200mW green is basically a 4D maglight that has been gutted. And turned into pretty much a solid block of metal. With a 5-Watt C-Mount 808nm Diode. And the head of the maglight has been adjusted to house a high powered 532nm KTP crystal. And I purchased a seconded head to do the same thing with a 473nm KTP.

I thought they had a distributer for the Spyder series. Isn't that also why they charge $40 for shipping. Also when I contacted them about purchasing an empty Spyder II host. They said they will contact their distributer to see if they have any Spyder II hosts in stock.
