Why the companies like Rayfoss and O-like has cheaper prices?

Duty cycle has nothing to do with which company, just on the size of the heatsink. Like a Rayfoss torch at 100 mW is sure to have a longer duty cycle than an equal power Optotronics pen

Rayfoss and O-like are well respected sellers here, and if you order from them you are sure to get good customer service / products. But if you do want a higher quality laser that is a bit more well built, some of the more expensive companies are the way to go.

My lasers from o-like and Rayfoss are very well built and sturdy, I can safely assume most lasers coming from them will last at least a year if not more.

If I used my lasers for half an hour every day (on - time), it would take almost 30 years to reach that...

If you do order an O-like or Rayfoss laser, I can't guarantee it will last 5000 hours (I doubt any handheld from any company will), but as long as you don't drop or tamper with it (and follow the duty cycle), it should last you for a very long time, probably years.

quality control is more up to the seller. On how he or she, represents what they sell. And how they sell it.

I have purchased more then a few modules from both rayfoss o-like and DX. It's always hit and miss. Most are OK and then their are a few that suck. More so from places like DX. What sets rayfoss and o-like apart is that they strive to make you happy. If you get one that seems under spec or has a problem, they will always take it back.

As far as longevity goes I have not had any modules or lasers from o-like or rayfoss die on me, some have lots of heavy use. The few that did have problems were apparent right from the start.

You really don't have much of a option to get anything better with out spending much, much more.

However Optotronics does offer a very fair price on their 532nm pens. They have probably the cheapest higher quality pointers. The plus with one of their products is that their guaranteed to be exactly what you paid for.

If you focus "out" (all the way) to get a collimated beam, the divergence is low, but you won't be able to burn as many things. That is what she does. She checks that the lasers work and are up-to-spec (sometimes above the mW rating) before sending them. Rayfoss has great customer-service. :beer:
