Here is what my tracking says.

"Your item was processed through and left our JAMAICA, NY 11405 facility on October 25, 2009. The item is currently in transit to the destination."

Jamaica, NY to Moline, IL shouldn't take more than 5 buisness days. Today is now November 11. That is a total of 17 days or 13 Buisness days. Where in the world is my package. USPS is by far one of the worst postal services ever.

USPS destroyed my RGV projector and then denied the $2,000 insurance claim. I WILL NEVER ship with them again!

I dont know if this is normal or not, but I shipped something to olike via usps and it took three months..

If you shipped it by Ground... yeah.. it can take 1-3 months...

You are referring to USPS (US Postal Service), not UPS (United Parcel Service), right? If you are expecting something from overseas, the USPS may have little or nothing to do with it (except military, FPO, etc.).

The USPS has gotten to be terrible over recent years, but they still do OK in many domestic areas, competing with the global guys like UPS and FedEx. They are a large, old and slow organization of civil service employees and contractors.

The attitude, ethics and adherence to security policies of your local carrier is probably the biggest problem in the USPS system.

They said that they didn't cause the damage, Ya right!

I have a video of it working before Mariomaster shipped it to me and when I got it, it was torn to bits :(

This story leads me to ask....why bother buying insurance for a package when they are just going to deny you when something bad happens.

I'm wondering why they denied the claim ?
There are few reasons a claim can be denied.
#1. it was not insured (this one's pretty obvious).
#2. It was insured for more than it's "wholesale" value, ie. they won't insure it for retial value only it's wholesale price from the manufacturer; but they should still pay an amount up to it's whole value.
#3. The shipping box was not damaged, if the shipping box is not crushed or badly damaged on arrival, then any damage inside the box is the shippers responsibility as they did not provide adequate packing/padding material.
#4. If the box is damaged, then the box must have been one that meets postal regulation specs. (ie if it's shipped in a cheapy thin box, then it's not covered)
#5 Smae goes with the packing tape, it must meet USPS shipping specs, you can't expect a box to remain sealed if masking tape or cellophane tape is used (yes, I've had stuff sent to me sealed in masking tape, cellophane tape)....if you can imagine it, then someone will do it.

In any instance that the package is really damaged on the outside, the USPS will flag it as such. If they don't, then the recipient needs to either have the USPS employee witness the package being opened or take photos of the package as it arrived as well as the contents as it is being unpacked.

Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of problems with USPS over the years and are not defending them, just telling how it is and what their reasons are.

As for the package to or from o-like or to any company outside the USA, the USPS is only responsible for the package after it gets into the USA or until it leaves the USA and some foreign postal services are really slow.
In fact, some countries, like shipping a package to some parts of India can take up to 8 weeks even though the package gets shipped from the USA on a plane and it arrives in India in a matter of a couple days.

I'm hav no idea if any of the above reasons apply as to why they didn't pay his claim, but if any of these are true, it's a possibility. In either way, even if no claim is paid, they will give a reason as to why it was denied.

I submitted every receipt from the projector build so they know the "real" price

The box wasn't completely crushed but you can tell it wasn't handled carefully and it definitely has dents in the box.

#4. If the box is damaged, then the box must have been one that meets postal regulation specs. (ie if it's shipped in a cheapy thin box, then it's not covered)

It was a regular cardboard box shipped with foam padding. The laser was built into a Crush-Proof Flightcase/Roadcase so there was no damage to the actual case of the projector.

Many pictures were taken of me opening it and it being all smashed inside.

They said it wasn't their fault it was damaged, that's the only reason they gave me.

The case is still pending but I have no hope for this at all....STAY AWAY FROM USPS!!

How did you pack it? They don't deny claims unless there is a reason and most of the time is is because things are not packed correctly.

It was packed fine...2in of HARD foam then soft foam, then peanuts.

If you read the latter that I attached you can see that they say

"no visible sign to the interior or exterior of the package" <- That's just BS
