Ya this one doesnt heat up at all and is perfectly center...

Just bear in mind that the host not heating up is not always a sign of efficiency. If there is not enough heat transfer between the module, and host... you could be frying your laser, and not even really know about it. This was/is a problem with a lot of the chinese 445 lasers, hence the super short run time recommendations.

If it's using the module I suspect it is, there is an aluminum heatsink there, and, it should be able to run even longer, but the off time definitely needs to be longer... for the most part I like for my lasers to last as long as possible, and treat them very gently.

Of course there are also lasers I treat like crap.... cheap ones I don't care about, and abuse :p

Should still be ok. The only time I killed a laser by running it too long, was with a cheap greenie, that did 80mW to begin with. I had it running for at least 20 minutes non stop. Tiny, tiny, brass heasink, and the host was too hot to hold when it finally gave out lol.

I have a glass desk and I keep my SH-032 on it from the case when im using it. I keep my AC at like 69 in the house. It is so cold when I pick it up it takes over a min before it doesnt feel cold to the touch. I put it back on the glass and its cold, quick...

Hi all,

I had the opportunity to try out the Arctic after receiving it Monday (13 days from order date to delivery btw), and I snapped a couple cell phone beam shots. The temperature here is very cold...-40c cold...when I opened the window to take the photo, there was a considerable amount of steamy hot air that escaped from the house, and it made for an interesting show. I'll endeavor in future to take pics with one of my better cameras.

I have shot a small video and posted it to youtube, and once I figure out how to embed it here, I'll edit this post and attach it.

I'm also looking forward to obtaining a LPM to test it's output in relation to what was noted on their power graph.

Cheers,

Mike

I still prefer embedded, nonetheless here are links to the two quick videos I've added to youtube. First one is a balloon pop at 25', and the second is a quick combustion test - stove top distance.

Heh, I love lasers & steam. I was late to work this morning... was kind of cold, so I took an extra long, hot shower. Bathroom was completely steamed up... yes I was running late, but still had to go grab a laser to look at the nice beam :p :tinfoil:

Just picked up a 1.25 Arctic.

Dealt with Lou from WL.

EXCELLENT customer service.

Product arrived in a timely manner.

I LPM'd it on a brand new Laserbee I bought just for the occasion.

1.4 watts.

Just want to give credit where credit is due because Lou did a fine job and I want his boss to know that.
