The new Survival Laser S4X™ host assembly is now available from the Survival Laser International and Survival Laser USA stores, starting at $49.99 each.

The S4X is the big brother to our original S4™ host. This massive host accepts 2 X 18650 batteries and uses the same heat sinks and driver pill modules as our other hosts. The S4X weighs over 6 times as much as the S4 and has far greater heatsinking capability, which allows longer run times without overheating the diode. In addition, the use of two 18650 batteries more than doubles the potential total run time of any of our smaller hosts (without the use of an extension tube, of course).

The S4X features a tapered strike bezel-style crown/retaining ring, a knurled and grooved heat sink holder, battery holder with cooling fins and groove detail, and a knurled, grooved and scalloped tail cap with a recessed 'clicky' switch and wrist strap. The design of the tail cap and wrist strap retention method permits the S4X host to tail stand.

The S4X Includes your choice of aluminum or copper heat sink with set screw and a 0.050' Allen wrench (or no heat sink), choice of drilled aluminum, drilled brass or heat sink driver pill to fit a 16.8mm diameter driver board, and choice of black anodized laser etched with the Survival Laser logo, or with no marking in black anodized and natural aluminum.

All heat sinks are designed to fit a standard 12mm diameter diode module.

Note: Does not come with diode, driver circuit, focusing ring or other components. Extended and tapered copper heat sink option shown in assembled host photos. Prices and specifications subject to change without notice.

Overall Length: 7.87" (200mm)
Maximum Diameter: 1.50" (38mm)
Weight: 358 grams (without heat sink)

For those interested in maximum driver heatsinking capability, our new heat sink driver pill effectively heat sinks high power rectangular drivers through the pill to the host.

Thanks for viewing!

Re: New Host Available for Pre-Order: The Survival Laser S4X

Garoq, the new S4X host looks good!
Does it take 18650 batteries only? With a tube dia. of almost 35mm, it looks like it could easily accomodate 26650's.
I assume it is available in black only, but a polished version would look very nice also! :D

Thanks! Yes, I'm sure it could be "bored out" to accept larger diameter batteries. I chose 18650s because they seem to be the most commonly used out there.

And yes, it's not mentioned in the OP but I plan to make a small number of unanodized S4X hosts available. ;)

I'll bet those extra thick battery tube walls will help with heatsinking though, that's for sure!

For those interested in maximum driver heatsinking capability, we have a new driver pill under development which will effectively heatsink high power rectangular drivers through the pill to the host. This will be added as an additional option and as a separate product in the near future....

Wow, you read my mind. :thanks:

Cool :) are these cutom made, or did they start out as flashlights somewhere? It's nice to have a "standard" host that can handle longer run times than those tiny C6's.

Custom. But it shares some legacy design features with the C6, S4 and stainless hosts as it was designed to be backward compatible. :)

Re: New Host Available for Pre-Order: The Survival Laser S4X

Made some minor tweaks to the design before releasing it to production about a week ago. Here is the latest prototype:

21812201660_39f3504120_z.jpg

The center section is slightly smaller in diameter and there are other subtle changes that make the S4X look more like a larger version of the original S4. The longer strike bezel from the first prototype will be retained in the new design.

Re: New Host Available for Pre-Order: The Survival Laser S4X

I just bought a pair of Survival Lasers safety glasses and I wish I had done this sooner.
These offer very good protection with better visibility than my dark amber glasses.
Highly Recommended.

Trust me, I have some of the cheap flebay glasses and they are no where near as good as these.
If you can see any blue through your safety glasses while using a blue laser then they are no good.

These are not expensive and your eye sight is well worth a decent pair of glasses.

S4X ---great idea ---very nice host indeed!

I think you hit the nail on the head!
Perfect addition to the Survival Lasers line of quality hosts and products!
A great looking, larger, and more massive host with enhanced heatsinking capability at a reasonable price.

I bet it feels great in the hand at that size and weight.

Am sure it will be a success!
