Hey 1337mW

Im a bit unsure of this companies professionalism as I heard that one of the customer care people didn't know what the IR filter was for.....hmmmm.....i wonder. :-[

But in saying that maybe you should contact them and get a feel for yourself if they are good to deal with.

I would love to know. ;)

I would at least talk to them first, I have heard that their lasers may not have prober IR filters, allowing them to claim a higher power when it is 100mw of IR and 20mw of green, they can call the laser a 120mw, when all you are getting is a 20mw and a bunch of IR that will kill your eyes.

I think you would be ok with their red lasers but the duty cycle is limited. So get a pulsar

:-? Hi,
Regarding Spymodex, I ordered a 125 mw Green Laser Pointer from them a couple of months ago. They shipped promptly (I tracked it through the Royal Mail), but it was held up by U.S. Customs for almost 3 weeks. When I received it, it was in good condition. It would burn things and was very bright (the beam was clearly visible in a dim room light). However, after a week it quit working. It would made a weak, green light that looked like it was shimmering off of water, but was definitely not a LASER beam. I contacted Spymodex, and they said to send it back. I did, and the Spymodex representative that I dealt with named Luke was very nice and said they would send a replacement immediately, even though the laser had some scratches on it from being in my pocket (after it had quit working). I am waiting for the replacement to arrive and will update this post when I get it.
Bottom line, even though the laser turned out to be defective, they have been very courteous and helpful and sent out a replacement right away

Well I've never dealt with Spymodex myself, but on good information their lasers do not have IR (Ifrared) filters. Well in the laser world IR filters are essential at all times unless your a professional with all the protective gear.. IR can seriously damage your eyesight.

BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On a lighter note I'm glad you had good customer service :) Enjoy the forum Timelord :)

For that price I think you should go with DX, you can get a good 30mW for under $30 with free shipping.

:)Hi,
I just received my 125mw green laser pointer back from Spymodex today. They were able to repair mine. It is working fine now. It was held up by U.S. Customs for 26 days! They were very nice to me at Spymodex, as the laser had a few scratches on it. These scratches happened after it quit working, but I was afraid they would say that it voided the warranty. But they didn't, they fixed it free of charge. I will keep you updated. By the way, I have seen some posts regarding if they have IR filters or not. I do not know and do not have any equipment to test, but I can say that I have a 75 mw green laser with an IR filter (its output has been verified) from a different company and the 125mw is significantly brighter.

Spymode is pretty much the original IR scam. They rank among the worst scammers I have ever seen. Past e-mails with them show either the utmost of stupidity, or more likely, some pretty serious fraud and BS.

Don't expect more than a few mW of green from a Spymode greenie (any power).

Don't expect 200mW from a Spymode red, mine does just under 100mW, and that's the most in spec Spymode laser I've heard of.

Here are two old but good links to let you know why to avoid those greenies:
http://www.lasercommunity.com/story-of-a-cheap-green-high-power-laser-t6610.html
http://www.lasercommunity.com/cheap-ebay-green-lasers-suck-t8140.html

The horror of Spymode also manifests itself on eBay as shane.dominic.

Be warned. Dealing with Spymode is a deathwish (well, financially at least ;)).
