Time and again the question comes up;

I ordered from company XYZ, and I still don't have my laser, how long is it supposed to take?

I hope that this rough guideline will answer some questions.

If At Least Three Weeks Have Passed and You are Concerned About Your Order - Contact the Company!

If you don't let a company know that there is a problem, they might not know that there is one. When contacting any business it is a good idea to provide your order number.

Lazerer:

-Up to seven business days for order processing, and two to four weeks for delivery to the US, and Europe.
-Typical delivery time is 10-21 days, but can be much longer around the holidays (such as during the chinese new year.)
-You are solely responsible for knowing your local customs and import laws, and any resulting confiscations. So far there have been no problems with confiscations.
-Official company policies: Link.

O-like:

-Up to two weeks for order processing and two to three weeks for delivery to US and Europe.
-Typical delivery timeframe from order to delivery is two to four weeks. Same as lazerer, expect delays during the holiday season.
-O-like does not have a clear policy on confiscations, although again, this has not been an issue.
-Official Company Policies: Link.

Rayfoss;

-Up to two weeks for processing and two to four weeks for delivery to US and Europe.
-Typical delivery timeframe from order to delivery is two to four weeks. Expect delays during the holiday season.
-In the event of confiscation Rayfoss will cover 50% of the loss.
-Official Company Policies: Link.

*All of three of the above companies tend to communicate poorly, some worse than others. Be patient and clear with your inquiries.

**Delays are common during regional holidays, and if items are not in stock.

***Paypal typically permits up to 45 days to start a dispute, it is best to be patient and allow time for your order to arrive.

****Disregard cheap chinese tracking. It will mislead you and leave you frustrated (much like my ex:p).

EXPEDITED SHIPPING;

All of these companies will offer to ship via EMS, DHL, UPS, etc,. Be forewarned that while this will expedite you receiving an item, it will not expedite the order processing or help if they item is out of stuck, or the company is on holiday. Always contact Max at lazerer, Susie at o-like, or Faona at Rayfoss prior to placing and expedited order.

Premium Companies;

For companies such as Jetlasers, Laserglow, and Optotronics, shipping time frames are rarely if ever an issue, because the offer top notch customer support. Contact their staff and they will provide you with up to date options, exact quotes and timeframes.

Manufacturers;

If you're dealing with manufacturer's chances are you already know what's going on. As always though, it helps to be patient, polite and clear in your communications.

This last section was already put together by Lase, but I thought it would be good to place it here to keep the information in one place:
(Please note these timelines do not include processing time, and are only guideline based on observed shipping time frames.)

02/29/12 Update -

USPS apparently has delays of up to 8 weeks atm. Please take this into account if you are ordering from any seller that uses this service.

I assume this is only an issue internationally as I haven't noticed or heard about delays domestically within the US.

02/24/12 Update -

All of the budget companies mentioned above, lazerer, o-like, rayfoss, will use the cheapest method for shipping.

An additional amount may be paid for tracking.

Tracking is NOT the same as insurance, but simply allows you to watch the progress of your package. The tracking methods are also often not very precise.

10/11/12 Update -

To Italy from HK/CH - 3-4 weeks standard & economy not trackable
To Italy from HK/CH - 4-10 Days EMS trackable
To Italy from HK/CH - 4-10 Days EMS trackable
To Italy from UK - 7-15 Days Royal not trackable
To Italy from US - 15-25 Days USPS First Class trackable
-and-
To Italy from Italy - 15-20 Days Prioritaria - not trackable [only for comparison]
To Italy from Italy - 7 Days Raccomandata - trackable [only for comparison]
To Italy from Italy - 2 Days Raccomandata 1 - trackable [only for comparison]

I have not yet seen a thread about this so I thought I would inform everybody.

About a month ago HongKong post implemented a new system for checking outgoing mail. This is causing a massive delay for packages, and you may experience shipping times increasing drastically.

I always have packages coming from China, and so far they are all taking around five weeks, instead of the usual two weeks.

Whether the change is permeant or not is yet to be seen.

Just keep this is mind if you have not received your package from China yet.

If you require insurance you must make arrangements with the company PRIOR to ordering. Please also note that the package can only be insured for the amount declared on it.

By default all packages are marked as flashlights and $10-$20 in value to prevent undue scrutiny from customs. The higher the declared value on the package, the more scrutiny it will receive. For any country with VAT or other import fees this means you may end up paying more to get the package from customs.

Legality;

Please remember it is your responsibility to know your local customs policies and laws.

Currently if customs inspects your package, you will not receive your laser in Germany, Australia, and now also Canada.

Happy Lasering:beer:

THANK YOU! :wave:

Would rep you but the system wont let me ;)

Hopefully this will create a lot less of the "I ordered from company XYZ, and I still don't have my laser, how long is it supposed to take?" threads.

OP updated:)

Thank you guys.

I just got sick and tired of answering the same questions again and again.

If anyone thinks this should be made a sticky, PM c0ldshadow, and hopefully it will be made one:beer:

I just wanted to bump this with some new info I got today from Australia Post.

USPS apparently has delays of up to 8 weeks atm. Please take this into account if you are ordering from any seller that uses this service.

Yep, just checked this on my end and International tracking numbers we were given no longer even register on the USPS tracking website.

Way to go USPS, and we thought you couldn't get any worse.

In addition, I received my host from offroadfreak in the Netherlands in just over 2 weeks. It was posted the same day as the HeNe heads from Sigurthr which are still in transit somewhere (Auspost can't tell me where they are either).

If you have referring to lazerpointerpro, many people on this forums have had negative dealings with them; some even claiming they got scammed. I would stay away personally.

Purchase a good laser from users on this forum in the trade section, you can find great deals here cheaper than anywhere else online. Also, if you purchase from a reputable member, you're basically guaranteed on-spec or over-spec'd power levels.

OH that sucks - just as i am about to order a host. Looks like I'll need to put that on hold (and refund my mate) until the USPS sort themselves out.

Go another route... I don't think USPS will recover :undecided:
