Re: Unhappy with Sci-Fi Lasers - NOT being resolved

You should not have had to go through all of this.

If he was not in the spotlight and under pressure he might have gave you the run around for another month or two.

You may actually get it now that everyone is watching, I bet it will be express shipped from just days ago.

---------------------------------------edit----------------------------------

I would like to stay positive and be encouraging in spite of the way..........sigh, well when the packs are coming in before the pay-pal disputes get filed I will say something nice, cool?

Honestly, that's why I made my (now inexplicably closed) tracking thread in the first place.

Re: Unhappy with Sci-Fi Lasers - NOT being resolved

Honestly, that's why I made my (now inexplicably closed) tracking thread in the first place.

It was closed to put a halt to things spiraling out. None of the threads have been deleted, some just hidden, but available in case they need to referenced.

Now we're waiting on the admin to make a decision on what's to happen with Joker. For example we don't know what agreement is in place for advertising.

Banning joker is also not a good option since it will limit customer options to contact him, or to hold him accountable.

At the same time he has broken several forum (and legal) rules, that would normally result in an immediate, and permanent ban.

I see, thanks for the explanation!

Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

pk7000, thank you for sharing your experience. Sadly it seems all too common.

@SyKo - One thread was hidden, and one locked. Nothing has been deleted, in case it needs to be reference.

The issue has been passed up to c0ld now. Unfortunately there is no perfect solution. Joker has lied (committed fraud technically), threatened people, doxxed one person, and threatened to do the same to others. Not to mention tried to paint himself as the victim in order to try and manipulate LPF members. (Which is where this whole situation exploded.)

All are offenses that would normally mean a permanent ban from LPF. There are two issues though. 1. We don't know what kind of advertising agreement is in place for the banner adds - they may have to stay for a while. 2. If banned, Joker could use that as an excuse for not being able to get in touch with people to resolve problems.

His only path forward is to apologize (to customers, and to members here), put accepting any new orders on pause, and to fulfill all current obligations. Don't know how much difference it will make, but it would be a start.

Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

I would be willing to let things slide if he really wanted to do right, but based on the history and the direction things were heading I don't know if he can.

Maybe he needs to raise prices and take less orders, and yea, point that finger at himself and own up.

But again, I don't know if he can, and if more new members join just to complain about fake tracking numbers then what?

I like the idea of people building either heads or tails and making everything 510.

That would open things up a bit and inspire healthy competition, also it would serve customers, which I am not interested in doing, I don't sell and I build my own, but seeing people cheated really should stop.

It would be a good start. I doubt it would be enough to recover at this point, but at least he can leave on "ok" terms if he goes that route, and would have the option of coming back later on.

Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

Best case scenario: He stops taking new orders until all of the current disputes and issues are resolved. If he was getting this overwhelmed he needed to just plain list things as "Out of stock" until he could catch up. He probably also needed to require expedited shipping as the Israeli Post seems to be total crap.

I don't know if I've been sent a fake tracking or if IP is just dog crap. The tracking was supposed to work yesterday and still doesn't. For all I know my order will get here before the end of the week? Maybe it hasn't really been shipped? Who knows at this point.

Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

Well, that's the very big issue with airmail.

I had a close call with SKY about 2 years ago, ordered bunch of stuff from them through the group buy here, and months passed, and nothing.

They did give me a tracking number, but it wasn't working either. Finally got to I think 80 days. Told them to refund me, or re-ship the order via EMS. They agreed to resend order, and LITERALLY the next day the package shows up. Mind you, $600 worth of stuff. So I was kind of nervous, and it's also not chump change for a small/medium business.

The "tracking number" only showed the package as delivered, after it had been delivered. I also even went to my local post office with it, to see if they could track it somehow internally, vs the USPS website, and they were not able to get any additional information about it either.

Fortunately the replacement package was not sent just yet, so neither SKY or I had to deal with any additional issues.

So ever since, if it's an order over $100, I opt for more expensive shipping options. Just not worth the stress to me of not knowing what's going on. On cheaper stuff, day 40 I automatically file a dispute, and escalate it to a claim after. Worst case scenario I can resend the payment to the seller if I get the package after.

Re: Unhappy with Sci-Fi Lasers - NOT being resolved

Joker says my tacking number will work in 12 hours .. 11 now .. and the laser should be in by Sunday. If the tracker isn't working by then, I'll be unimpressed.

Also my money's on hold and not directly accessible by Joker, so I should be fine, long as that's the truth. Besides that, he says my laser is almost here and he can't intercept it.

I've had several people offer to sell me a laser with two day shipping, so I honestly don't have much to lose if my laser doesn't arrive .. as long as I can get my refund.

I'll sell you mine! It doesn't work anymore, but maybe that's not a problem? :na:

Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

Thx for your comments.

I also think that's the best solution, he stops taking new orders and first processes all the current orders. He could be overwhelmed. At the time of my order I almost only found positive reviews, the negative ones seem to increase since the end of last year.

Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

You know, I(along with plenty of other people) told him to hire someone else, or tell people that orders might take a little longer as a way to help him out.

He didn't listen, look at it now. Oh well.. :\

He stated that he now has a location in the USA that will send out orders so that they won't take as long anymore. I don't know what the address is yet, but that would definately solve the shipping problems. Any one in the US who makes an order from now on should see a serious decrease in shipping time.

Where/when was this? Genuinely curious.

Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

I saw that also, forget what thread

I'm mainly curious because I highly doubt anything came off it, and at this point I'm suspicious enough to think it might just be another load of crap, and joker trying to buy time.

EDIT: Logistically it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. A warehouse implies the stocking of ready made products. After all he does sell complete lasers. Shipping a large number of lasers to be stored in the US, then sold by a company in israel to be dropshipped within the US, is troublesome at best. Even chinese companies have gotten away from that practice because it exposed their US companies to action from FDA.
