Re: The Ultimate In Laser Technology

This looks like your run-of-the-mill distributor trying to look like a manufacturer.  They cannot give prices because they don't know what the manufacturer is going to charge them for what they want yet.  You order from them.  They order from the manufacturer.  The manufacturer charges them.  They give you that price plus their mark up.

@jayala3467 -- If you post the same information in multiple threads and/or boards, it's SPAM

Hey, I live ~10 miles away from you guys, can I come by and test some of your lasers?

I wrote this text years ago. You did not write this text. Would you like to pay me for it or will you remove it from your site? Since you are based in Florida a simple lawsuit for copyright infringement is an easy task for us, so why don't you write your own website content instead of stealing my work?

Re: The Ultimate In Laser Technology

That's just too tempting. Can I pay you in lasers? ;)

No, no... we really don't condone violence, even against sloppily-run copyright infringing "competitors". Besides, with a site like that they won't really be competition anyways. If they don't take my words off of their site I will totally sue them into the ground, though.

While I can't remember the site that I saw that had this information, recently a line of 5.6mm laser diodes came out that integrates both an APC driver and photodiode into the same chip in the diode can. This means no external driver is necessary. All you get is a perfectly ordinary looking diode that you just hook directly up to the power supply of your choice.. It stands to reason that this technology combined with a hybrid crystal set could be used to produce a DPSS laser of that small size.

I could be missing something, but I'm just curious: This thread was started by Benm, right? Then a representative of the company posted to answer questions posted in the thread started by Benm, right? Now I don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers, but I'm having some trouble seeing what constitutes spam in this case.

From what I've seen, a representative of the company in question was good enough to answer questions about their product. That's all. If I owned a laser company and I happened to see a thread on a forum about one of my products, I'd chime in and make myself available to answer any questions directly. That doesn't seem like spam to me. In fact, I'd consider an employee of the company to be probably the best person to answer any questions. They would know more than anyone else about the product.. I'm not sure why they are reluctant to post prices, however.

To me, this would be a clearer case of spamming if the thread had been started by an employee as an advertisement for the company in question, rather than by a member of LPF wanting to show us something new...

Yeah.... the first post was deleted... it was his first post pushing his wares....

Then he spammed 3 other non-related threads with his laser sales link...
and still he could not give us prices... probably for the reasons Dave posted above... ::)

These guys must think we're morons and can't see through their BS...
