Maybe in these days I was absent-minded, but I haven't seen any "hei" from LPF members relevant  the new laser pointers  that Jack is now showing on his site: Premium +100, +120 and +150mW at very affordable prices (he declares the last one to have a typical peak output up to 170mW, wow  :D).....and knowing the high quality controls he usually guarantees for the products he sells, these can be only  good news for all the guys willing to get a really good power pointer without paying a high price...

Wow, $196 for a 150 mW laser?

I think NOVAlasers needs to lower its prices soon. ;D

the beam quality of these laser pointer are not truely checked. some month ago i wrote an email to optotronics. he dolt me that he check at eye if the beam quality is ok. so... mrad... is only indicative :-[.... it can change by model and model i think!. however... from 100mw these lasers use a 1watt diode... good!but i think that these laser are often a lucked laser like the 200mw sold at dx or focalprice. the difference maybe is that optotronics check it and ask a replacement to che seller...to only have good powered an beam spec laser pointer. but this is only a my thought.. that could be wrong!!!
there are a lot of CLONES of these newwish laserpointer....all identical!i hope that optotronics.. being a TRUSTED company.... resell ....only the best clone of these l.p!!... but 1watt diode.. should make me feel sure that the quality of the laser inside is good.... even if it is mounted in a dealextreme/newwish casing :D

Hi Realista,
Every laser we ship out is quality checked in more ways than perhaps all or nearly all other laser companies period, crap doesn't go out the door!
You misunderstood and then mis-quoted the meaning of what was said to you, perhaps you should re-read the reply we sent to your questions.
On all pen pointers beam quality is visually checked for roundness of the beam (nothing that looks oval in shape goes to a customer). beam diameter is checked (no "fat beam pointers"). Divergence is "checked by eye" meaning I have a 1.2mrad sized target on the wall and can tell by pointing at it if the beam is in spec, really it's not hard to do when you see / test the number of lasers we send out.

We only began offering these for about 5 days and are almost sold out of the 150's, but we'll get more in stock soon (they are more popular than we anticipated). I know some of them went to forum members, so I'm sure you'll see some reviews on them soon.

Optotronics is not even comparable to dx or focalprice. I am completely confident that every laser they ship will meet or exceed specs and have impeccable build quality.

I guess it is safe to say that Optotronics' pen-style lasers are the cheapest ones on the market - ignoring the low-quality imitation lasers, that is. It's funny that Wicked is still selling its 125 mW laser for $399. ;D

I think Jack just blew all of the competition out of the water. NOVAlasers was known for its lower prices, and some of its products (X-150 for $399) now seem pretty expensive in comparison.

ok, i undertood wrong!i thought that you only check by eye...and you get only the laser that are good.. but good from a range 1.2 mrad also 1.3.. also 1.1.. instead the handheld lasers you sell are checked PRECISELY by a technick instupents... digital instruments.... but for the price and the use as POINTERS ,, and not handheld laser.... is however good if you chek the beam meaning you have a 1.2mrad sized target on the wall.

my ony problem was that there are TOO MANY laser pointer with the same casing.... and also the bag wich contains the laser is similar the dealextreme/focalprice/cinese sites. so.. it is hard to know what there is inside the casing. black casing. only ledshoppa has a SHORTER front cap...grey. all other lasers are similars. however 1watt pump diode is very trusted. novalaser 150mw uses a 500mw diode......

the pruducer of these 1watt laser pointer is the same of the =<65?

Well, as you says, it's hard to know what's inside the casing; in this case the 65mW and the 150mw "hosts" look different, I guess. From an opposite point of view, in this case, I shouldn't take care of the "dress"... What's important is that all these pointers are within the common characteristics and quality declared and guaranteed by Optotronics....
