Great...cool. Thanks guys. I am *definitely* leaning toward ordering one of the Alphas pretty soon. Which one just depends on what cash I have left over after I get all the other laser equipment I've been wanting lately.

I currently don't have any lasers from NOVAlasers, but I would prefer an "Alpha" series laser for the following reasons:

1. It has a longer duty cycle.
2. The anodized coating is more resilient than the paint on the "X" series lasers.
3. It uses AA batteries instead of AAA ones, so it should last longer than pen-sized lasers before the batteries have to be replaced.
4. The on/off switch is more convenient than the momentary switch.
5. The "Alpha" series is reported to be more stable than the "X" series.
6. It is also reported to have slightly better specs than the "X" series.

the alpha has a momentary, but you can easily use a hair tie or a rubber band to keep it down for long burn times ;)

Rule of thumb:

Nova is always at least 20mW over-spec ;)
I have an X125 that settles down at 150mW

My Alpha 65 was shipped on the 29th, so I should be able to post some pics and a review soon. Unfortunately my review will not have any power meter readings... Unless there's someone in the San Francisco Bay area with a meter that wants a visitor...
