Greenie, the + goes to the tail cap, all the rest + goes towards the diode, the batt prob could be that the batt is slightly loose, have you got any neodymium magnets to use as a spacer ?

could you show a vid of you focusing the laser ???

I'll bet the flickering is caused by you putting in the battery in the wrong way right at the start.

It could have damaged the internal electronics and now they're failing.

The "no heat" thing, since I do not believe your skin is dark blue (in which case, woah dude! :D Sick), you are not going to feel any heat from a red or IR laser on your hands since it's practically almost transparent at that wavelenght.

If it was 1W red laser you still would never feel it on your skin.

If you wanna burn with it, make sure to defocus it and put the unlucky object into the focal point, where beam is thinnest.

That's all there is to it. Laser is/was probably fine and Lazerer isn't to be hold accountable. You DID flip the battery in the wrong way. From that moment, manufacturer has NO obligation to replace your laser.

No0o0o0o! I put the battery the right way as I watched a video about it before and it already had a flickering problem, so I tried to flip it the other way to see if I was doing it wrong but it's the laser itself I'm sure... I think QC has gotten worse as my first laser from them had the same problem that developed over time from the tailcap.

Woah let me see if I got this right.

You put the battery in the laser.
You turn it on.

And it works, but flickers a little, maybe output not to standard. However there IS some output.

Then, even contrary to the video you watched, you decided that the best way to fix the problem with flichering laser, is to flip the battery backwards?!

Dude, seriously, what the hell? I mean I can understand when somebody doesn't know electronics or tech but that's just plain old common sense! If there output? Yes? Battery is in the correct way and problem is somewhere else.

In any event, regardless if the laser flickered or not when you got it, you STILL did power it with polarity inversed and cannot prove that the damage was, in fact, caused by you. I believe you personally, (benefit of the doubt thing), but seller will not.

Tighten down the retainer ring on the tailcap, clean up the battery and laser contacts, use extra spacer for firmer contact, use FRESHLY charged battery, and hope for the best.

It's the tailcap defects because of the manufacturer.. many people have this problem with several lasers, me and Livinloud for ex. and we needed a replacement.

Alright, thanks for your help. I'll see what I can do, I don't think I have a screwdriver that is that small though..

No purpose at all. Just thought it was funny that you reverse polarity because it was flickering and figured that would fix it.

I agree it was dumb, was just unhappy about the laser when I waited so long and wasn't thinking about what I did..

Is the red blob very evenly lit when you defocus it a lot, or is the center noticeably brighter than the rest of the blob?

I'd avoid removing the lens completely, since LOCs can be more susceptible to dust damage because, well, they're not sealed.

also, try to tighten metal ring that holds the switch in the tailcap. You will see it has two holes. Use some old tweezers to tighten it.

Last thing to mention. These are not consumer devices. While they're not exactly lab equipment either, the main point to remember is that they aren't designed to be user-proof. Things may fit where they don't belong, batteries may be able to put in backwards, but this doesn't mean that it won't break it by doing this.

Well... now you're prettymuch out of luck since it's impossible to prove that you did not cause the damage.

They are not iPhones, and theres no one to complain to when you accidentally release the blue smoke.

I will get Max to let me return it, if you are going to be insulting or call me dumb, then get off the thread, I appreciate the helpful comments but it doesn't seem like this laser is outputting 270mw, and I just don't want to deal with any of the problems. I'm not try to be an ass but I am not going to buy from Chinese companies, instead LPF members.
