I would like to share my disappointing experience with rayfoss with you guys. One day, I've decided to purchase my first cheap powerful green laser burner, and many members here recommended rayfoss for their outstanding customer service and relatively good quality products. Things must have changed since then...
I have received my first laser RF532-200mW-FMK(IR filtered) and it worked fine. The dot was perfectly round and all was good. After some use, it started mode hopping so I returned the laser to rayfoss and had it replaced by another one of the same model for a 30 $ fee because I had "messed around" with it. That one did not mode hop, but it's beam was something similar to the one of a high powered 445 nm laser. I decided to disassemble the lens assembly to clean it after having realized that a few circles appeared on the dot. While I was trying to disassemble the lens, I decided to turn it on to check if it was still functional, but all I got was a very dim green dot, which then turned into a red dot (infrared), which eventually faded and died. I then decided to send it back to rayfoss for the last time to be replaced. So rayfoss sends me a new laser that gets held by the customs in my country due to the odd subscription title of "Astronomy lab flashlight" they had assigned to it as well as the low customs value of 20 $. So i had to pay 160 $ to my country's customs to have it released and sent to my address, which includes handling charges, airports charges, custom fees etc... Today I received that laser, and it still doesn't seem to have a perfect TEM00 mode, but rather a circle with line sticking out of it. Also, the power button came off by itself because of how loose it was. I still have doubts about the claimed power rating of this laser because the previous one lit a match much quicker when focused to a tiny point. All in all, I can confidently say that rayfoss has good customer service (Faona), who replies to all of my emails no later than three or four days after having sent the email, but terrible products. I'm sad to say that with all the money I spent on shipping, custom fees, repair charges etc... while I replaced the laser three times, I could have bought myself a 250 mW laser from a reputable company such as laserglow, nova lasers, optotronics etc... I just didn't see it coming! I have learned my lesson the hard way and will never go back to buying cheap lasers again. This experience really did teach me something: You DO get what you pay for, at least in the world of lasers... Hope you guys don't make the same mistake, so save up on all the useless charges and fees that I paid and get yourself a high quality laser that will not need to be replaced three times! Good luck with your future purchases. I will never buy a relatively expensive laser from a cheap company such as rayfoss again. Thanks for having read this!
