It used to be DX, then I think LaserBTB. Are either of those options still valid? What's the reliable and affordable company that we trust now days?

Welcome back! You may want to check out my company guide in the companies section.
The most popular "good" company is Sanwu - though they only offer diode lasers, not DPSS.
Speaking of companies, I think you'll be wanting to update your "Golden Company" thread! :D

Yea laserBTB is still around not sure about DX though. And obviously eBay for some cheap 445nm/532nm. Not sure how cheap you're going for but you can also get some nice modules from DTR.

Nice to see you again, Chicxulub!
DX is still around, along with Fasttech which is very similar, and the better of the two IMO.
If you're looking for anything other than cheap pens, 532nm modules, or hosts, I'd go with some of the more reputable companies; there's Sanwu as sta mentioned, there's also Jetlasers, and Laserbtb to name a couple.
There is also usually someone with a laser or two to sell in the BST section. :yh:

Edit: As Sta mentioned, an update to "The Golden Company" thread would be great!

I'm very happy with my LaserBTB 200mW green that puts out a little over 300mW. It even rolled off a table and landed on concrete last week, but it still works like a champ and no rattling inside. I believe that most members who have purchased from them recently have all had overspec lasers and are happy with their purchases. Divergence on my green is also good (though not as good as my Optotronics), and shipping was super fast from China with no issues at US customs. Another good option is Sanwu, which I have and people seem to rave about. Much better build quality than LaserBTB IMO, excellent communication, packaging that leaves a lot to be desired, limited options for green, and similarly fast shipping. Power was underspec but was told that was because of the G7 lens on my 445nm.

I had a look at that thread! Its a great resource! :)

Thanks for the advice! DTR is an excellent resource, and I'm glad to hear that Laser BTB is still legit. :)

Hi Chicxulub :)

Hey there Alex! I remember when you were an enthusiastic noob, now look at you! :p lol Good job bro!

It's possible! I've been in quite a few lol. Though I think the last one I remember being in was probably before you joined :p

Brought from lazerer a while ago and I am quite happy with my purchase. See review thread here:

Sta have a very good thread for all reputation laser companies be sure to check it out.

Thanks for the review! His review thread was quite useful :)

I'll have to check out Sanwu. Thank you!

I'm so spoiled, I don't like normal pointers anymore so always have them built for me by someone, last one (almost done) is being built by CDBEAM777. If it doesn't have 2X normal power (high end) and a beam expander on it, I don't want it anymore.

I've been in the hobby since pointers where literally all we had, and ones that could do 200mW where the newest, most cutting edge tech. This is also the time frame when I stopped being really active lol. Its just the paradigm that I'm used to. I honestly don't think I could enjoy the lasers that are producing the power that a lot of these are capable of now.

I should correct myself though, I am interested in 488nm as well as yellow wavelengths, those would be nice to have even at lower power. I am also gaining an appreciation for gas lasers due to the perfection they can obtain, our laser diodes produce rather crude beams compared to them, but, if I am going to have a laser pointer now, I mean, in addition to what I already have which are the common blue and green pointers, I want something more exotic. Although not really exotic, I am having a 1+ watt 520nm green & 3+ watt 465nm blue dichro mirror combined pointer host machined for me right now which should make a wonderful baby blue cyan beam :)

Of course, I will complete the unit, but he is working on the optics right now.
